Is it normal for the fetus to move below the belly button?

Many expectant mothers will observe their fetal movements during pregnancy. But suddenly one day you may feel the fetal movement below the belly button, and the position is different from every time. At this time, the expectant mother will be very worried, thinking that this is an abnormal situation. In fact, this situation is normal and parents don’t need to worry at all. So why does the fetal movement occur below the belly button? Let’s find out together.

Is it normal for the fetus to move below the belly button?

The experience left by our predecessors is always somewhat mythologized, and the one about checking the gender of the fetus is even more heavily promoted. It is a widely circulated saying that the position of fetal movement in the late pregnancy can determine the gender of the baby. So what exactly is it?

Regarding the position of fetal movement : male babies mostly move left and right in the belly, that is, they move on the left and then on the right, while female babies move around the belly button.

About bulge : Both boys and girls will have a bulge in their mother’s belly. The bulge for boys is a small one, just like his little fist or foot pressing on your belly. For a baby girl, your belly will be bulging, and you will clearly see that your belly is bulging high, as if the baby's butt is sticking out.

Regarding the pattern of fetal movement : When a boy moves, he mostly kicks here and punches there. Although he also turns over, it is very rare. A girl may also punch and kick, but it is more like waves in the belly, rising and falling.

In fact, judging the gender of the fetus by the position of fetal movement, that is, relying on certain characteristics of fetal movement to infer the gender of the fetus, currently has no scientific basis, so pregnant mothers do not need to believe it too much.

What does fetal movement feel like?

1. The initial feeling of fetal movement: If this is your first pregnancy, you may feel the fetal movement for the first time around 18 to 20 weeks. At the beginning, the fetal movement is intermittent, like a butterfly flapping its wings. Gradually, you will feel your baby's movements becoming stronger and stronger.

2. The feeling of fetal movement from 20 to 24 weeks: During these weeks, the baby's fetal movement will become more and more frequent. He's busy kicking and somersaulting in your tummy!

3. The feeling of fetal movement at 24 to 28 weeks: Your baby may start to hiccup, so you may occasionally feel your stomach jumping intermittently. From this time on, you may notice that your baby jumps in the womb when there is a sudden noise in the outside world. Generally, starting from the 28th week, the baby's life rhythm becomes more obvious.

4. The feeling of fetal movement from 29 to 31 weeks: The amplitude of the baby's movement becomes smaller because as the baby grows, the space in your uterus becomes narrower and his movements are restricted.

5. The feeling of fetal movement at 32 to 33 weeks: At this time, the baby's fetal movement will reach its peak. From now on, you will notice that your baby's movements increase in frequency and in a variety of patterns.

6. Feeling of fetal movement around 36 weeks: The baby may have curled up with its head down, ready for the final birth position. If this is your first child, the muscles in your uterus and abdomen will be tighter. Now you can feel the baby's movements mainly by poking your belly with his little arms and legs. Sometimes, this little guy may even kick your ribs and cause pain.

7. The feeling of fetal movement at 36 to 40 weeks: As the baby grows bigger, the big rolling fetal movements are no longer so frequent.

8. In the last two weeks of pregnancy: fetal movements may slow down a little and the baby's growth rate may also slow down a little. These are normal and you don't have to worry.
