What medicine should I use for vaginal itching?

Failure to pay attention to personal hygiene, unclean sexual life, abortion, excessive cleaning, etc. may all lead to gynecological inflammation. Because of gynecological inflammation such as candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, and vaginitis in the elderly, etc., it will cause symptoms of exogenous itching. It is best to check which type it is so that you can prescribe the right medicine for better treatment.

What causes vaginal itching?

1. Stimulation of secretions

Irritation from urine, sweat, and anal secretions.

2. Chronic vulvar dystrophy

The main symptom is extreme itching, accompanied by whitening of the vulva skin.

3. Thoughts at work

Some cases of vulvar itching do not have any obvious lesions, but the patient will scratch it because he feels itchy, and the more he scratches, the more itchy it becomes. This is a psychoneurological condition.

4. Trichomonas vaginalis infection

When the acidity of a woman's vaginal mucosa decreases, the production of lactic acid decreases, making vaginal Trichomonas infection more likely to occur, which manifests as foamy leucorrhea and vulvar itching.

5. Fungal infection

For women with diabetes or long-term use of antibiotics that cause imbalance of normal flora, Candida albicans among fungi can easily invade the vulva and vagina, causing fungal vulvar and vaginitis, often with bean curd-like leucorrhea and vulvar itching.

6. Diabetes

Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, the vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical treatment due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are only diagnosed with diabetes after further examination.

7. Allergic reaction

Such as drug rash, urticaria, especially when the vulva is in direct contact with some irritating soaps, vulvar medications, the use of contraceptive devices or jelly, can also cause severe vulvar itching and even dermatitis. Therefore, when you have vulvar itching, you must not take medicine at will. It is best to let the doctor find out the cause and then treat it according to the doctor's advice.

8. Chronic local irritation

The most common cause is excessive discharge from the vagina. The acidity of secretions decreases, which causes changes in the bacterial flora in the vagina and makes local inflammation more likely to occur.

Many people also experience thinning of the vulva skin, disappearance of subcutaneous fat, and atrophic changes that can extend to the entire vulva and anus, manifesting as wrinkled, hardened, and whitening skin, and on this basis, vulvar skin diseases may occur. These changes constantly stimulate the nerve endings in the area, causing unbearable and stubborn vulvar itching, which is difficult to distinguish from skin diseases such as lichen sclerosus and vulvar leukoplakia.

What to do if the vagina is itchy

1. You can buy some special vaginal cleansing lotions, such as Sanofi or complex iodine. Take an appropriate amount of lotion every night to wash your vagina and keep it clean, hygienic and dry. After washing, you can apply some zinc oxide ointment. If it is chronic itching, you can use dexamethasone emulsion for external application, which is very effective.

2. Wear pure cotton underwear that is loose and comfortable. Underwear should be washed and disinfected frequently. It is best to use sanitary pads.

3. It is better to eat more whole grains, such as brown rice, pumpkin and whole wheat bread. You can supplement your body with vitamins appropriately and eat more red dates or wolfberries. You can also take chlorpheniramine, metronidazole, and ethidium bromide orally, which can treat genital itching.

4. Avoid scratching the genitals with your fingernails. Not only will it damage the skin, it will also create a vicious cycle and make the genitals more itchy. Before going to bed, you can apply moisturizing lotion all over your body, or use essential oils and gently massage with your hands. For itchy areas, use more force.

5. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene and keep the vulva clean and dry.

6. Treat chronic inflammation of the reproductive tract, such as cervicitis, vaginitis and other diseases that easily cause excessive leucorrhea.

7. When cleaning the vulva every day, it is more appropriate to use a feminine care solution with a weak acid formula. It is best not to use clean water or soap to clean the vulva, and avoid scratching with your hands or instruments.

8. Eat less spicy food.

9. Pay attention to hygiene during sexual intercourse to avoid sexually transmitted diseases.

10. Certain diseases or local infections in the body may also cause vaginal itching. It is best to go to the hospital's gynecology department for an examination and receive treatment after a clear diagnosis.
