Many women do not understand the structure of the breast. Because they are shy or busy with work, they do not pay attention to some problems with their breasts. Therefore, when there are problems with the breasts, they will panic and even take wrong methods. For example, many mothers will feel that there are lumps in their breasts, and they are worried that it is a serious disease. But in fact, it is not as serious as they think, and some of them are even normal. This is because everyone has a "lump" in the breast. If it does not hurt when pressed gently, then the lump is the mammary gland. If you didn't feel any lumps before delivery, but suddenly feel some lumps about three or four days after delivery, and the milk can't come out, and you can only get a little milk by squeezing hard with your hands, this is what we usually call milk blockage. So, is it a problem if there is a lump in the breast? How to eliminate it? Let me show you about it today. 1. Is it normal to have lumps in the breast? Basically everyone has a "lump" in their breast, which is a normal human structure. If it doesn't hurt when you press it gently, then it is the mammary gland. If you didn't feel any lumps before delivery, but suddenly had some lumps in your breasts within three or four days after delivery (some are small bumps, some are severe swelling of the entire breast), and the milk can't come out, and you can only squeeze out a little bit by hand, and the whole breast is swollen or stinging, this is milk congestion, which is commonly known as milk blockage. Milk blockage is mostly caused by obstruction of the milk ducts. The milk accumulates inside, forming small lumps or lumps. Some mothers fail to clear the blockage in time, resulting in milk dryness, and the baby has to eat milk powder. If the congestion is more serious, infection will occur and form mastitis (mastitis is caused by milk congestion. The milk congestion cannot be discharged in time, resulting in excessive pressure, local congestion and edema, and bacterial invasion, causing inflammation). (2) What should I do if I have lumps and pain in my breasts during lactation? Breastfeeding mothers often experience breast tenderness, lumps, and pain 3 to 7 days after delivery, mainly due to mammary lymph retention, venous congestion, interstitial edema, and blocked mammary ducts. As long as mothers breastfeed as soon as possible or use a breast pump to express milk, the mammary glands can be unblocked. You can also apply hot compress or massage the lumps before breastfeeding to dissipate the lumps. Some mothers said, "Massage is so painful that I can't stand it. Is there any way to deal with it?" It is true that it does hurt during massage, but you can only try to endure it. The pain will go away once the milk ducts are unblocked. Otherwise, it will cause a fever. (III) Correct prevention/elimination methods: ① In the early stage of milk stasis, wear a bra to improve blood circulation, and apply local cold compress for 3 to 5 minutes to reduce milk secretion. You can continue breastfeeding. ② When there is a lot of milk, the skin of the entire breast is tight, and it is difficult for the baby to hold the nipple for sucking, you can squeeze out some milk to soften the areola so that the baby can suck most of the areola correctly. ③Adopt the correct breastfeeding posture and correct the baby’s sucking method. Let the baby open his mouth wide and suck the nipple and most of the areola in his mouth. Avoid letting the baby sleep with the nipple in his mouth. ④ Wash the nipples with warm water before breastfeeding. Do not use soap, alcohol or other irritants to wash the nipples. After breastfeeding, leave a drop of milk on the nipples to help protect the nipple skin. ⑤ If the baby has not completely drained your breasts after each feeding, you can use a breast pump or hand-express milk to drain the breasts. Let your baby finish one side each time before eating the other side. It is recommended to breastfeed alternately to avoid having one breast larger than the other. ⑥ If the nipples are ulcerated or cracked and the pain is severe, you can use a "nipple shield" to breastfeed, or you can use a breast pump to suck out the milk or squeeze it out by hand and then feed it to the baby. At the same time, you should actively seek treatment. If the mother is emotionally unstable during the breastfeeding period, it may also cause lumps, so the mother should maintain a happy mood during the breastfeeding period, especially not to hold grudges. |
