Pay attention to these when doing routine leucorrhea examination

Leucorrhea is a normal physiological phenomenon of women. It is a secretion from the uterus and ovaries. The health of the body can be judged by observing the color and odor of the leucorrhea. If a woman has abnormalities during the secretion of leucorrhea or the leucorrhea has an odor or changes in color, she needs to have a routine leucorrhea examination to see if she has any disease.

What is a routine leucorrhea examination?

Abnormal leucorrhea poses many hidden dangers to women's health. If you find that your leucorrhea is abnormal for more than a week, it is best to go to the hospital to find out the cause. Generally speaking, abnormal leucorrhea is caused by ovarian dysfunction or decline and low sex hormone levels. It is common in women with frequent miscarriages, prolonged breastfeeding, and various chronic diseases. After entering menopause, the gradual atrophy and loss of function of the ovaries can also cause abnormal leucorrhea. Therefore, it is best to check in time to avoid delaying the disease.

Generally speaking, normal leucorrhea of healthy women is white, and sometimes it can be transparent and odorless. Other symptoms can be regarded as abnormal leucorrhea to some extent, such as a colorless, transparent and slightly turbid viscous substance similar to egg white, or a yellow viscous substance, or blood in the leucorrhea, etc., and a fishy or even foul smell. If women find these abnormal symptoms, please go to the hospital for a routine leucorrhea examination as soon as possible.

Items of routine examination for leucorrhea

Routine examination of leucorrhea mainly involves five items: vaginal cleanliness, vaginal pH, vaginal microorganisms, amine test, and clue cells. The doctor needs to collect a little secretion from the female vagina to perform the above five tests. Women will not feel pain or discomfort, so there is no need for any psychological burden and they can maintain a good attitude to face routine leucorrhea examinations.

How to read the results of routine leucorrhea examination

(1) The pH value of leucorrhea during testing is usually used to indicate the acidity and alkalinity. The normal pH value is 4.5. If it is greater than 5-6, it may be a sign of trichomoniasis or bacterial vaginitis.

(2) In the test results, the symbol "+" is often used to indicate the presence of Trichomonas or fungi. However, this only means that the woman is infected with Trichomonas or fungi, and does not indicate the severity of the infection.

(3) Vaginal cleanliness is graded, generally into four levels: Grade I means that a large number of vaginal epithelial cells and a large number of vaginal bacilli are seen under the microscope; Grade II means that vaginal epithelial cells, a small number of white blood cells, some vaginal bacilli, and a small number of miscellaneous bacteria or pus cells are seen under the microscope. Grade III means that a small amount of vaginal bacilli are seen under the microscope, with a large number of pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria; Grade IV means that no vaginal bacilli are seen under the microscope, and except for a small amount of epithelial cells, there are mainly pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria. It should be noted that degrees I to II are normal, while degrees III to IV indicate abnormal leucorrhea and vaginal inflammation.

How to prevent abnormal leucorrhea

In order to maintain gynecological health, try not to use sanitary pads in daily life and change your underwear every day. Maintain a good attitude, guard against arrogance and impatience, and avoid getting angry. Avoid wearing tight pants and opt for looser fitting ones. Do not use various guiding washes to avoid destroying the natural health of the vagina. Have regular checkups, and if possible have a gynecological checkup once a year.
