Female friends who have given birth and breastfed all have this feeling: their breasts are sagging more and more seriously. In order to change this undesirable phenomenon, some people choose breast sagging surgery. The surgery was initially effective, but gradually complications began to appear, such as nipple necrosis, skin necrosis, infection, nipple dislocation and scarring, and dermoid cyst formation, which are relatively common. 1. Complications of Breast Sagging - Nipple Necrosis When the nipple and areola are displaced, the subdermal vascular network at their edges should be kept as wide as possible, and the underlying mammary gland pedicle should be kept as thick as possible to ensure blood circulation. Second, when shaping the breast, excessive folding, rotation, and twisting of the breast tissue, or excessive tension during suturing, can affect the blood supply through the nipple and areola, causing blood obstruction and resulting in necrosis. Once necrosis occurs and the necrotic tissue is completely detached, nipple reconstruction should be considered. 2. Complications of Breast Sagging - Skin Necrosis It is often caused by excessive skin excision and excessive suture tension; or due to rough operation and arbitrary clamping of the incision edges, which causes severe tissue contusion and affects the blood supply of the skin flap, resulting in necrosis. After skin necrosis occurs, free skin grafting can be performed when necrosis and tissue shedding occur. 3. Complications of Breast Sagging - Infection The cause of infection is the severe damage to blood circulation during surgery, which reduces the vitality of tissues. It can also occur when there is dead space and hematoma, and infection can also be caused by inadequate aseptic operation. Antibiotics can be used to treat the infection, and incision and drainage may be required if necessary. 4. Complications of Breast Sagging - Nipple Misalignment and Scarring Nipple malposition is due to errors in the measurement of the nipple position. Therefore, we must attach great importance to preoperative planning and try to make it as accurate as possible. If the breast suture tension is too high or the patient has a scar-prone constitution, the scar will be obvious after the operation. Once this complication occurs, it is difficult to deal with. Therefore, it should be avoided as much as possible during surgery rather than relying on treatment. 5. Complications of Breast Sagging - Dermoid Cyst Formation Some breast sagging correction surgeries require the removal of the epidermis and the folding of the dermis into the breast. If the epidermis removal technique is improper and the epidermis is not completely removed, dermoid cysts are likely to occur after the operation. Once it occurs, the only option is surgical removal. |
