Inappropriate local excision can result in a local recurrence rate as high as 27% to 57%. Once local recurrence occurs, even a very thorough and extensive excision is unlikely to be effective. The same is true for the treatment of regional lymph nodes. A substandard regional lymph node removal will often promote the spread of the tumor throughout the body.

4. Age and gender: Rare juvenile malignant melanoma has a better prognosis. The prognosis of malignant melanoma patients under 45 years old is better than that of older patients. In terms of gender, the prognosis of female patients is significantly better than that of male patients.
