Labia majora ulcers are a common phenomenon in women's daily lives, seriously affecting their reproductive health and married life. If the treatment is not timely or the treatment method is inappropriate, it may lead to the occurrence of other diseases. Therefore, understanding the symptoms of labia majora ulcers and receiving timely symptomatic treatment will be very helpful for recovery. (1) Nonspecific vulvitis : The condition is mild and often occurs after scratching. The ulcer is superficial but painful. (2) Sexually transmitted diseases : Many sexually transmitted diseases will cause vulvar ulcers during the course of their disease. For details, see the discussion of genital herpes, chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, and syphilis. (3) Behcet's disease: also known as oculo-oral-genital syndrome. Acute vulvar ulcers often occur during the course of the disease. The most common sites of disease are the inner side of the labia minora, the inner 1/2 of the labia majora, and the vestibule of the vagina. The clinical manifestations include the following three forms: ① Gangrenous type: The clinical symptoms are the most serious. Before the ulcer occurs, there are systemic symptoms such as fever and fatigue. The lesion area is obviously red and swollen, the number of ulcers is small, the appearance is like a hole, deep and with irregular edges. There is a lot of pus attached to the surface of the ulcer, or there is a dirty yellow or gray-black pseudomembrane attached. After removing the pseudomembrane, the base can be seen to be uneven. The lesion develops rapidly, sometimes causing large tissue erosion defects, which look like vulvar cancer, but have soft edges and bases. The patient is in severe pain. ② Chancroid type: This type is more common. The disease develops slowly and there are no obvious systemic symptoms before onset. The ulcers are numerous and shallow, but large in area, with redness and swelling around them, irregular edges, and may also have perforation. There is pus on the surface of the ulcers. The patient's symptoms are mild, and the ulcer heals within a few weeks, but new ulcers may appear nearby. ③ Miliary type: This type of ulcer has many numbers, but the lesions are small, ranging from the size of a needle tip to a grain of millet. The symptoms are very mild and heal quickly. Since there are many causes of vulvar ulcers, careful observation of appearance and course of disease should be conducted clinically, combined with laboratory tests such as secretion smears, cultures, blood tests, and systemic examinations in order to make a clear diagnosis. For vulvar ulcers that do not heal for a long time, a living tissue should be taken from the lesion for pathological examination. |
