Pre-pregnancy hemolysis test, these methods must be understood

Before becoming pregnant and having a baby, some women need to undergo a hemolytic test. Whether the test is necessary depends on the blood types of both men and women. Usually, if the woman is type O blood and the man is not type O blood, it is necessary to do a hemolytic test.

1. How to check ABO hemolysis before pregnancy?

The examination can be started three months before pregnancy, and it is a blood test. Hemolytic disease often occurs in mothers who have experienced threatened miscarriage in early pregnancy or who are pregnant with their second child. If a woman who has a history of unexplained stillbirth, miscarriage, or severe neonatal jaundice plans to have another child, she and her husband should undergo an ABO blood typing test in advance to detect the presence of anti-A and anti-B antibodies in the body. This test is called an IgG antibody titer test. It can be performed in large general hospitals or large blood banks. Both parties need to have their blood drawn and the test results are usually available within a week.

If the test value is outside the normal range, intervention must be carried out. Current intervention treatments generally combine traditional Chinese and Western medicine to prevent the occurrence of fetal and neonatal hemolytic disease. If no intervention is made, as the pregnancy progresses, the titer in the mother's body will gradually increase, and the chance of the fetus developing hemolytic disease will also increase. Women who are at high risk should undergo regular testing after becoming pregnant, generally with a follow-up check once a month.

2. If one party has type O blood, it is necessary to check for ABO hemolysis.

Guidance:

It is recommended to check it out, which is also a responsible attitude for yourself and your child. Hope it helps.

3. Why may ABO hemolysis occur?

If the mother's blood type is O, then there are no A and B antigens on her red blood cells. If the father does not have type O blood, the baby's blood type may be type A or type B, and there is a possibility of ABO hemolytic disease. Assuming that the fetus' blood type is B, when his red blood cells enter the mother's body during pregnancy, anti-B antibodies will be produced in the pregnant woman's body. These anti-B antibodies may enter the fetus through the umbilical cord during pregnancy or delivery, destroying his red blood cells and causing ABO hemolytic disease. What are the possible consequences of ABO hemolysis? 1. Miscarriage, premature birth, intrauterine fetal death, etc. may occur. 2. It may cause edema, hemolytic jaundice, hemolytic anemia and other diseases in newborns.
