Symptoms of vulvar enterobiasis

Vulvar pinworm disease can cause many adverse effects on our reproductive health, and the pinworms will still wriggle, causing itching in the vulva area, leading to patients' restless sleep or local skin flushing, erosion and other adverse symptoms.

1. Causes

Pinworms live in the intestines, but female pinworms crawl out of the anus at night to lay eggs, and sometimes crawl into the vagina or urethra. The peristalsis of pinworms can cause itching of the vulva, disturbed sleep, etc. If secondary infection occurs, abnormal secretions and urethral irritation symptoms will occur.

2. Clinical manifestations

1. Local symptoms

Attacks occur at night, with itching in the perineum and burning sensation when infected.

2. Perineum

Visible skin scratches, skin redness, exudation, and erosion. Long-term repeated attacks can cause skin thickening and pigmentation to become eczematous.

3. Urinary tract symptoms

There may be frequent urination and urgency.

4. Neuropsychiatric symptoms

Inattention, restlessness, irritability, insomnia, nighttime teeth grinding, etc.

3. Inspection

1. Milky white worms can be seen around the anus, between the labia, and at the urethral opening.

2. Pinworm eggs can be found through stool microscopy.

3. Female worms or eggs can be found by microscopic examination of secretions from the anus or between the labia.

diagnosis

The diagnosis can be confirmed based on the characteristics of nocturnal attacks and the sight of the worms with the naked eye, as well as finding worm eggs under a microscopic examination.

4. Differential Diagnosis

It should be differentiated from nonspecific vulvitis, vulvar candidiasis, Trichomonas vaginitis, vulvar eczema, vulvar nutritional disorders, etc., and can be differentiated through pathogen examination and histopathological examination.
