What to do if your eyes become dry after childbirth

What to do if your eyes become dry after childbirth

Since a lot of nutrition will be lost after childbirth, if the mother uses her eyes for too long, it will cause symptoms of dry eyes. So what should she do if this happens? Let’s talk about it in detail below.

1. Do not blow air conditioners, electric fans, or heaters directly into your eyes:

Keep your home or work environment clean. When going out, it is best to use jewel glasses and windshields to reduce the chance of exposing your eyes to harsh environments.

2. Increase environmental humidity:

Lowering the indoor temperature, increasing the temperature in the environment, and wearing good eye protection can reduce tear evaporation. As for placing a cup of water on the same side, it can indeed increase the humidity, but if the space is too large, the effect may be limited.

3. Blink for no reason:

Blinking helps the secretion and distribution of tears. Less blinking directly leads to a decrease in the amount of tears. The tear film exposed to the air will evaporate quickly and lose its protective power for the eyeball. It is understood that the normal number of blinks is 10-15 times per minute, which will be reduced to 4-6 times when looking at the computer and to 2-3 times when driving. Therefore, to prevent and treat dry eyes, you must consciously blink more often.

4. Normal daily routine:

When your eyes are tired or you lack sleep, it can easily affect the secretion of tears and make the problem of dry eyes worse. Therefore, you should try to maintain a normal schedule on a daily basis.

5. Hot compress for eyes:

Hot compresses on the eyes can promote blood circulation around the eyes, relieve symptoms of eye fatigue, and increase the temperature of the eyes to help the absorption of artificial tears. If patients with dry eyes can persist, it will be of great help in alleviating discomfort. For ordinary people, it also has a certain preventive effect. The method is quite simple, just cover your eyelids with a hot towel for 5-10 minutes at a time, twice a day. For patients with mild dry eyes, since the symptoms are more obvious in the afternoon, it is recommended to apply it once in the afternoon and once in the evening.
