What to eat in late pregnancy to help with childbirth

Many pregnant women will encounter many problems during childbirth, which can be alleviated by some food. Many people don’t know what to eat in the late pregnancy to help with normal delivery. At this time, pregnant women must pay attention to the intake of nutrients in the body. Vitamin supplements are also important.

1. Foods containing zinc

Foods rich in zinc include meat, seafood, beans, nuts, etc. Especially for some pregnant mothers who prefer vegetarianism, very little meat intake will significantly reduce the amount and utilization of zinc. Therefore, vegetarian pregnant mothers should use foods such as whole grains, beans and peanuts to increase zinc absorption to help natural delivery.

2. Calcium

Supplement adequate calcium. In the late stages of pregnancy, pregnant women's need for calcium increases significantly because the calcification of fetal teeth and bones requires a large amount of calcium. Pregnant women should drink more bone soup and shrimp soup, and eat more sesame seeds, kelp, animal liver, and eggs.

3. Vitamin B1

Supplement adequate amounts of vitamin B1. If pregnant women lack vitamin B1 in the late stages of pregnancy, they will experience symptoms similar to early pregnancy reactions, and may even affect the contraction of the uterus during delivery, leading to dystocia. Therefore, pregnant women should eat more whole grains rich in vitamin B1.

4. Eat a light diet

Pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy should avoid eating large, low-nutrition foods such as potatoes and sweet potatoes. Instead, they should choose small, high-nutrition foods, such as animal foods, to reduce the feeling of fullness in the stomach. Pay special attention to supplementing adequate calcium and also pay attention to the intake of vitamins. Pregnant women during this period should have a light diet, and the daily salt content should be strictly controlled below 7 grams, and they should not drink a lot of water. Also need to supplement enough protein and essential fatty acids. It is worth noting that pregnant women with high urine protein should limit their intake of protein, water and salt, and eat more vegetable oils.
