What is vaginal adhesion?

Vaginal adhesions can be divided into congenital and acquired conditions, which will affect women's reproductive health, so it is necessary to focus on analyzing the causes. If the estrogen level in women's bodies is low or lacking, this symptom will also occur.

1. Vaginal adhesion is a rare female disease, which can be divided into congenital and acquired types. Congenital vaginal adhesions are mostly caused by chromosomal mutations, while acquired chromosomal adhesions are often seen in chronic inflammation. They can be treated surgically, and those with milder conditions can also be treated with medication.

2. Causes of vaginal adhesions

The main cause of vaginal adhesion is ovarian dysfunction, low or lack of estrogen levels in the body, reduced glycogen in vaginal epithelial cells, alkaline pH in the vagina, and reduced ability to kill pathogens. At the same time, due to the atrophy of the vaginal mucosa, thin epithelium and insufficient blood supply, the resistance of the vagina is reduced, making it easier for bacteria to invade and multiply, causing inflammatory lesions. In addition, poor personal hygiene habits and nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiency of B vitamins, may be related to the onset of the disease.

3. Symptoms of vaginal adhesion

In patients with vaginal adhesions, the vaginal opening cannot be seen from the outside. The difference from congenital absence of vagina is that:

Labia minora adhesion refers to the adhesion of the labia minora on both sides, covering the urethral opening and vaginal opening, leaving only a small hole at the upper end of the labia minora to discharge urine, but the urine flow is relatively thin.
