Symptoms of trichomoniasis are more obvious in women

Symptoms of trichomoniasis are some symptoms that women experience after being infected with Trichomonas. Trichomoniasis can cause trichomoniasis vaginitis in women. Women will have symptoms of vulvar itching and changes in leucorrhea. The following are the symptoms of trichomoniasis.

After a woman is infected with Trichomonas, she will develop symptoms of vaginitis after an incubation period of 4 to 28 days. It manifests as vaginitis. Trichomonas vaginalis can be found by hanging drop method, smear staining method and culture method.

1. Increased vaginal discharge , characterized by grayish yellow color, thin texture, foamy, and foul odor. When combined with pyogenic infection, it turns yellow-green and purulent. In severe cases, vaginal mucosal bleeding may result in bloody leucorrhea.

2. Itching, burning pain or a crawling sensation in the vulva and vagina. Vulvar dermatitis may occur over time due to the stimulation of leucorrhea.

3. The vaginal mucosa and cervical mucosa are congested and edematous , often with scattered small hemorrhages, which look like strawberry-like protrusions, and are tender during alkaline examination or sexual intercourse.

4. When Trichomonas invades the urinary system , symptoms may occur such as lower abdominal pain, frequent urination, and painful urination.

Men with trichomoniasis generally have no symptoms, but they can infect their sex partners. Some patients have transient purulent discharge from the urethral orifice, dysuria and urgency, which often occur in the early morning. There may also be mild irritation of the urethra, moist urethral orifice, and occasionally epididymal infection can cause testicular pain. The prostate may also be affected, but whether Trichomonas plays a role is unclear. The above are common complications of trichomoniasis in men.
