In life, many people find that a lump of flesh has inexplicably grown on the back of their hand, but there are no obvious symptoms at other times. So what is this lump of flesh?

1. Ganglion cyst

A bone that suddenly protrudes from the back of your hand may be a ganglion cyst. A ganglion cyst is the most common lump on the back of the wrist. It feels hard, like a bone. It can also occur in joint capsules and tendon sheaths in other parts of the body.

The main symptom is local tenderness in the affected area. When touched, the subcutaneous tissue feels full and has a fluctuating cystic feeling, accompanied by wrist weakness, discomfort or pain, mostly soreness or radiating pain, and may have certain functional impairment.

2. Bone hyperplasia

Osteophyte, also known as hyperplastic osteoarthritis, often occurs in the cervical spine, lumbar spine, knee joints and other parts of the body, but it does not rule out the occurrence of bone hyperplasia in the bones on the back of the hand.

The main clinical symptoms are: joint deformity, joint pain, and limited movement.

3. Fracture

Fractures are mainly caused by external force. If the bones on the back of the hand suddenly protrude, it is also possible that the fracture was caused by external force when drunk or otherwise unaware.

The main symptoms are: bone dislocation, pain, and swelling.

4. Joint dislocation

It refers to the loss of normal correspondence between the articular surfaces of the bones that make up the joint. Clinically, it can be divided into traumatic dislocation, congenital dislocation and pathological dislocation. So some patients may suddenly have bones on the back of their hands, which may be joint dislocations.

The main clinical manifestations are: joint pain and swelling, deformity, elastic fixation and glenoid cavity emptiness.
