Hypothalamic amenorrhea is the most common type of amenorrhea, and its causes can be of various types, such as mental and neurological factors such as environmental changes, excessive tension, fear, and anxiety; anorexia nervosa; malnutrition caused by nutritional disorders or certain wasting diseases; drug inhibition syndrome caused by long-term use of female contraceptives or contraceptive injections or antipsychotic drugs such as chlorpropamide, opium, reserpine, and dopamine; amenorrhea and lactation syndrome characterized by amenorrhea, continuous lactation, and atrophy of internal reproductive organs; polycystic ovary syndrome characterized by amenorrhea, infertility, hirsutism, and obesity; and amenorrhea caused by hypothalamic dysfunction caused by diseases of the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, pancreas, etc.
