Why did I suddenly stop having menstruation?

The importance of menstruation to women is self-evident, and every woman has menstruation every month. Only normal menstruation can indicate that a woman's body is healthy. If menstruation does not come as scheduled one month, it means that women have more serious problems in this regard. Of course, there are also many people who suddenly experience amenorrhea, so why do they suddenly experience amenorrhea? Let’s take a look at it together.

There are two types of amenorrhea: primary and secondary. Primary amenorrhea refers to the absence of menstruation after the age of 18. Common causes include congenital uterine defects, ovarian abnormalities, endocrine disorders, malnutrition, etc. Secondary amenorrhea refers to the situation where a woman has menstruation but has stopped having menstruation for more than 6 months due to some pathological reasons. Common causes include systemic diseases such as anemia, nephritis, tuberculosis, endocrine disorders, ovarian abnormalities, and sequelae of artificial abortion.

It is secondary amenorrhea and temporary. It can usually be corrected by strengthening physical exercise, supplementing adequate nutrition and strengthening physical fitness. The causes of amenorrhea are extremely complex. According to the main links that control the normal menstrual cycle, they can be summarized into the following four categories: Uterine amenorrhea refers to amenorrhea caused by the uterus. Common diseases include endometrial damage or adhesion caused by multiple miscarriages and excessive curettage; tuberculous endometritis or endometritis caused by miscarriage; congenital uterine hypoplasia or absence of uterus; endometrial destruction caused by hysterectomy or intrauterine radiotherapy. Common diseases of ovarian amenorrhea include: congenital ovarian hypoplasia or absence; premature ovarian failure in women who have reached menopause before the age of 40, ovarian surgical removal or destruction of ovarian tissue due to radiotherapy, inflammation, etc.; ovarian tumors that secrete excessive androgens, etc.

Pituitary amenorrhea is mainly caused by postpartum hemorrhage, shock causing ischemic necrosis or inflammation of the anterior pituitary tissue, radiation and surgery that destroy the function of the anterior pituitary, primary pituitary gonadotropin dysfunction; and various types of pituitary tumors. Hypothalamic amenorrhea is the most common type of amenorrhea, and its causes can be of various types, such as mental and neurological factors such as environmental changes, excessive tension, fear, and anxiety; anorexia nervosa; malnutrition caused by nutritional disorders or certain wasting diseases; drug inhibition syndrome caused by long-term use of female contraceptives or contraceptive injections or antipsychotic drugs such as chlorpropamide, opium, reserpine, and dopamine; amenorrhea and lactation syndrome characterized by amenorrhea, continuous lactation, and atrophy of internal reproductive organs; polycystic ovary syndrome characterized by amenorrhea, infertility, hirsutism, and obesity; and amenorrhea caused by hypothalamic dysfunction caused by diseases of the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, pancreas, etc.
