What are the symptoms of mild cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is one of the most common gynecological diseases. Many women have symptoms of cervical erosion. Generally speaking, it can be divided into mild erosion, moderate erosion and severe erosion according to the size of the cervical erosion. Many people don’t know much about this condition. Let me introduce to you the symptoms of mild cervical erosion!

The specific manifestation of cervical erosion is a fine granular red area in the cervical vaginal part at the external os of the cervix. The boundary of the eroded surface is clearly demarcated from the normal cervical epithelium. It has now been renamed "cervical columnar epithelium ectopia".

"Cervical erosion" is not true ulceration with epithelial shedding and ulceration, nor is it equivalent to the pathological diagnostic criteria for chronic cervicitis. Cervical erosion-like changes may be physiological columnar epithelial ectopia, that is, the squamous epithelium of the cervical vagina is replaced by the columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal; it may also be pathological, such as congestion and edema of the cervical columnar epithelium during inflammation, or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early manifestations of cervical cancer.

1. Pathological cervical erosion: The eroded surface is covered by a complete single layer of cervical columnar epithelium. Due to the low resistance of the cervical columnar epithelium, pathogens can easily invade and cause inflammation. In the early stage of inflammation, the erosion surface is only covered by a single layer of columnar epithelium, and the surface is flat, which is called simple erosion; subsequently, due to excessive proliferation of glandular epithelium and accompanied by stromal hyperplasia, the erosion surface becomes uneven and granular, which is called granular erosion; when the stromal hyperplasia is significant, the surface unevenness becomes more obvious and papillary, which is called papillary erosion.

2. Physiological cervical erosion: Another situation occurs in young girls or unmarried women, where the cervix is sometimes red, granular, and resembles erosion. But in fact there is no obvious inflammation. It is caused by the outward migration of the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal and is not pathological cervical erosion.

Generally speaking, if there is mild cervical erosion, most of the symptoms are not very obvious, but it should be noted that if this symptom is not treated in time, it may cause cervical erosion to become moderate or severe erosion. Cervical erosion is more harmful. It will not only cause infertility, but also the possibility of cancer, so it is necessary to prevent it.
