What causes recurrent urinary tract infections in women?

In the urology department of some hospitals, there are always some women who come to the hospital for treatment because of recurrent urinary tract infections. Moreover, as the number of treatments increases, these women become very depressed, thinking that they are the only unlucky ones and that urinary tract infections cannot be cured no matter what they do. In fact, if a woman has a urinary tract infection, it will recur if she does not pay attention to the details in her life after it is cured. So why do women get recurring UTIs?

Women have a short urethra, and a large number of bacteria are stored at the entrance and vaginal vestibule, making it easy to develop a lower urinary tract infection. Lower urinary tract infection in women is a common disease, and the incidence increases with age. In women who are susceptible to urinary tract infections, pathogen adhesion to epithelial cells is enhanced. That is to say, this type of patient is more susceptible to infection than other people.

Irregular treatment is also the reason why some women have recurrent urinary tract infections. To date, antibiotics are the main method for treating lower urinary tract infections, but there are principles for using antibiotics. If this is your first UTI, you will need to take antibiotics for 3 days; otherwise, you will need to take antibiotics for 7 to 10 days. It should be noted that some people only feel a little discomfort during the first infection and do not realize that they have a urinary tract infection. Therefore, when the infection occurs again, they are not treated according to the principles of recurrent infection.

Some people buy medicine and take it for 1 to 2 days after suffering a urinary tract infection. When the symptoms get better, they stop taking the medicine. This happened several times, resulting in chronic cystitis. Medicine was no longer effective, so I went to the hospital for treatment. Some people try all kinds of medical treatments in desperation because of long-term frequent urination and poor treatment results. After going to one hospital for treatment and taking medicine, I felt there was no effect, so I went to a second hospital for treatment, and even to a third hospital. In this way, a lot of money was spent, the disease was not cured, and the condition became more complicated. Some people receive repeated treatments and use medications, which eventually causes dysbiosis and fungal infection, making the condition more complicated.

Some people suffer from urinary tract infection due to unclean sexual life. On the one hand, they are receiving treatment, but on the other hand, the infection keeps recurring, so the treatment effect is naturally not good. Girls living in dormitories hang their towels behind the door and pile them together. They are not exposed to sunlight all year round and the environment is damp, which easily breeds bacteria and mold and leads to repeated infections.

Women with urinary tract infections should drink more water. Although this will increase the frequency of urination, it can flush the urinary tract and the bacteria in it will be excreted from the body with urine. However, women with urinary tract infection should only drink more water during the acute attack period, and they should maintain a normal water intake at other times.
