Causes and relief of postpartum back pain

After the confinement, the hand joints, leg joints, and wrist joints all hurt, and it is inconvenient to move. This is a symptom of postpartum rheumatism. Postpartum rheumatism is called postpartum arthralgia in traditional Chinese medicine. It mainly occurs in women of childbearing age during the puerperium or within 100 days after delivery. Due to weakness of the body, insufficient qi and blood, blood deficiency causing wind; or sweat and dampness, phlegm and blood stasis, tissue meridians, and external evil, the main manifestations are: limb joints, muscle pain and discomfort, heavy swelling, soreness and numbness, tendons and veins contracture, flexion and extension difficulties, or even joint stiffness and deformation. Postpartum rheumatism is commonly known as confinement disease, which is generally difficult to cure, and early treatment is very important. Generally, Chinese medicine is used as the main method, both the symptoms and the root causes are treated, and both attack and supplement are used to achieve real results.

Pelvic rocking is very effective in relieving back pain. You can let your baby look at you while doing the exercise. Kneel on the ground, support the floor with your hands, keep your back flat, contract your abdominal muscles, and arch your back like an angry cat. Keep your head and back level, then relax and return to the center, trying to avoid letting your back relax before maintaining a straight line.

You can enhance this movement under the back and strengthen the back muscles by doing the following exercise. Keep your back flat, lower your head, and start to straighten one leg, keeping one leg in a straight line with your back, not too high, bend your knees and place them on the floor at the same time, allowing your head to return to the center position. Repeat 6-8 times, then repeat 6-8 times with the other leg.

Many mothers catch cold during the confinement period, which can easily cause back pain after delivery. These phenomena are very normal. In daily life, you can relieve the pain by constantly moving around, getting out of bed and walking around, and eating more nutritious food.
