Why do I have dysmenorrhea?

Women have to menstruate once a month, which is already troublesome enough for female friends because they always have problems with mobility during these days. But some women are even more distressed because they always experience dysmenorrhea every time they have their period. For those with severe symptoms, they really feel like they want to die in pain. So, what causes dysmenorrhea in women?

What is dysmenorrhea? Dysmenorrhea is the phenomenon of severe lower abdominal pain during menstruation that disappears naturally after menstruation. Most dysmenorrhea occurs during menstruation, and for some people it occurs a few days before menstruation. The abdominal pain worsens after menstruation, but everything is normal after menstruation.

The characteristics of abdominal pain are closely related to menstruation. Abdominal pain will not occur if menstruation does not come. Therefore, abdominal pain that is not related to menstruation is not dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea can be divided into primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea refers to abdominal pain that occurs from the beginning of menstruation, while secondary dysmenorrhea refers to abdominal pain during menstruation that occurs several years or even more than ten years after menstruation. The causes of the two types of dysmenorrhea are different.

Why does menstrual cramps occur?

The causes of primary dysmenorrhea are a narrow uterine opening, uterine hypoplasia, or large pieces of endometrium in the menstrual blood. The latter condition is called membranous dysmenorrhea. Sometimes menstrual blood contains blood clots, which can also cause lower abdominal pain.

The causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are mostly caused by diseases, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic congestion, etc. In recent years, it has been discovered that increased synthesis of prostaglandins in the endometrium can also cause dysmenorrhea.

Therefore, it is necessary to determine the cause of dysmenorrhea through examination and then treat it accordingly.

After experiencing dysmenorrhea, do not think that this is a normal phenomenon for women during menstruation. It is a pathological manifestation and should be examined and treated. If it is caused by a disease, timely treatment is necessary to cure both the root cause and the symptoms, which will relieve dysmenorrhea. If it is caused by cold, you can drink more brown sugar ginger water during menstruation to warm the uterus and relieve the symptoms of dysmenorrhea.
