The first glass of water in the morning is very important for a healthy life. Are you drinking it right?

It is said that drinking a glass of water in the morning is a good habit worth promoting.

After a full night's sleep, the water in the body is "out but not in". Drinking water in time after waking up can not only replenish water, but also reduce blood viscosity, promote blood circulation, and is very beneficial to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.

Therefore, many people insist on drinking a glass of water every morning.

But if you don’t drink this glass of water correctly, it may harm your body!

(1) The first glass of water that "poisons" the body!

1. Drinking too much or too fast - heart attack, sudden death

When waking up in the morning, many people feel dry and thirsty, so they tend to drink a large glass of water in big gulps. However, drinking too much water at once is not a good thing.

Morning is a high-incidence time for myocardial infarction, and our heart also needs to "wake up". If we drink too much water too quickly, the blood will be diluted quickly, thereby increasing the burden on the heart.

Especially for people at high risk of cardiovascular diseases such as the three highs, atherosclerosis, etc., the sudden increase in the burden on the heart may cause the heart to strike, triggering myocardial infarction, heart failure and even sudden death!

suggestion:

The first glass of water you drink in the morning should be drunk slowly and in small sips. The amount you drink is also important. About 200 ml is enough, which is the amount of a small cup.

Notice:

Elderly people who have the habit of drinking water in the morning should pay attention to the following three typical symptoms that may indicate heart failure:

① It is difficult to lie flat at night: You must raise your pillow when sleeping at night. Once you lie flat, you will cough and wheeze.

②Chest tightness and cough: You may occasionally feel chest tightness and shortness of breath, and frequent dry coughs during the day. This feeling is more obvious after activities and fatigue.

③Decreased urine volume and edema in both legs.

In addition to these three symptoms, significant weight gain in a short period of time, fatigue, decreased physical strength, loss of appetite, abdominal bloating, etc. may also be signals of heart failure.

2. Drinking too cold or too hot water can damage your stomach and cause cancer

Different people have different preferences when it comes to drinking water temperature. Some people think drinking cold water is comfortable, while others think drinking hot water is good for health.

In fact, neither too cold nor too hot is good.

If you drink cold water immediately after getting up in the morning, the gastrointestinal mucosa will suddenly be exposed to the cold, and the capillaries will suddenly contract, which can easily cause gastrointestinal discomfort or diarrhea.

Overly hot water can damage the esophageal mucosa. It may not matter if it happens once in a while, but repeated damage from hot water can easily increase the risk of esophageal cancer.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has also classified hot drinks above 65°C as Class 2A carcinogens.

suggestion:

The first glass of water you drink in the morning should be warm water that is roughly equivalent to body temperature. The water temperature can be slightly higher when it is cold, but be careful not to exceed 50℃.

(2) Adding something to the water - your kidneys, stomach and blood vessels will all suffer!

Many people like to add some salt, honey, lemon, etc. to water when drinking it, believing that it can maintain health, whiten the skin and is good for the body.

But in fact, adding salt (light salt water) to water will increase blood pressure. The first peak of blood pressure rises in the morning. If our daily sodium intake is sufficient, drinking a glass of light salt water in the morning will increase sodium absorption.

This is undoubtedly "rubbing salt into the wound" for people suffering from hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Honey contains a high amount of fructose, which will be broken down into glucose when it enters the body. Drinking a glass of honey water in the morning will greatly increase the fluctuation range of blood sugar.

Lemon is sour, and drinking lemon water in the morning may irritate the gastric mucosa, leading to symptoms such as acid reflux and stomach pain.

suggestion:

The first glass of water you drink in the morning is boiled water, which is the best choice. It not only effectively replenishes water, but also helps you wake up faster. It is healthy and affordable.

3. Should you brush your teeth or drink water first when you wake up in the morning?

For healthy people, there is not much difference between the two, because dental plaque is the main base for bacteria in the mouth, and it can only be removed by physical action (brushing and rubbing). Drinking water will not cause a large number of bacteria to enter the gastrointestinal tract, so there is no need to worry about it. However, if you have oral diseases such as periodontitis and gingivitis, it is best to brush your teeth first and then drink water.

(IV) These three types of people should not drink too much water in the morning!

For healthy people, the dietary guidelines of the Chinese Nutrition Society recommend that men drink 1,700 ml of water per day and women drink 1,500 ml of water per day.

However, the following three types of people should not drink water like healthy people, as they are prone to illness due to drinking too much water.

1. Patients with heart failure

Heart failure can cause ischemia and hypoxia in tissues and organs throughout the body, affecting the kidneys, and causing less urine output or even no urine output.

It is recommended that patients with heart failure pay attention to controlling the amount of water they drink. Patients with severe heart failure should control their water intake to less than 800 ml. You can ask your doctor for the specific amount of water you should drink.

2. Patients with chronic kidney disease

The kidney function of this type of patients is not so perfect, and they are prone to low urine volume and edema. The water they drink may not be excreted normally, so they need to adjust the amount of water they drink by observing the urine volume.

For this group of people, the appropriate amount of water for the whole day = 500 ml of urine volume the previous day.

The water here refers not only to drinking water, but also the water contained in milk, soup, porridge, vegetables and fruits.

3. Those who are taking medication for gastric ulcer

The drugs taken by these patients will cover the surface of the gastric mucosa and protect the gastric mucosa. If they drink a lot of water, the efficacy of the drugs may be reduced.

It is recommended that such patients drink a small amount of water while taking medication to avoid reducing the efficacy of the medication and delaying recovery.

"Drinking Water in the Morning"

By Cao Xianmin

The morning light shines through the window lattice,

The breeze blows the curtains.

Waking up with thirst,

Walk lightly to the gourd and jar.

The spring water pours into the cup,

Crystal clear like jade.

Take a sip to moisten your throat and tongue,

Drink slowly to cleanse your mind.

Like a gentle rain,

The body is relaxed and the mind is at ease.

Every day is like this,

Health always accompanies you.

Diseases and evils cannot get close to you.

The body is healthy and the spirit is refreshed.

Drink water and know its source.

Live a healthy life.
