Fetal breech position picture

When it comes to childbirth, many mothers choose natural childbirth because it is good for the baby, and the baby will be in better health. However, choosing a natural birth also requires a variety of criteria. In cases where the fetus is in breech position, natural birth cannot be chosen. If you want to choose natural birth, you need to find a way to correct the fetal position, such as chest-knee position, moxa-moxibustion on the little toes, etc. Of course, some children will adjust to the head position autonomously.

1. Photos of fetal breech presentation

Fetal breech presentation is one of the most common abnormal fetal positions. Breech presentation is more common before 30 weeks of pregnancy and should not be considered abnormal; after 30 weeks, most babies can naturally rotate to the head position, and those who continue to be in breech presentation account for about 3-4% of the number of pregnant women giving birth. Delivery by pregnant women in breech position poses great risks to the fetus, including umbilical cord prolapse, fetal arms raised horizontally, and difficulty in moving backwards and forwards. Incorrect handling of breech presentation can easily lead to stillbirth, neonatal asphyxia, intracranial hemorrhage, birth injury, etc. The perinatal mortality rate is 3-8 times higher than that of the occiput anterior position. The breech position is marked by the sacrum and is divided into six directions: left sacral anterior, left sacral transverse, left sacral posterior, left sacral anterior, right sacral transverse, and right sacral posterior.

2. Causes of breech presentation

(1) The fetus moves too much in the uterine cavity, such as loose abdominal cavity, excessive amniotic fluid or small fetus, which makes the fetus move too much in the uterine cavity;

(2) The movement of the fetus in the uterine cavity is restricted, such as abdominal anxiety in first-time mothers. Twins, oligohydramnios and uterine malformation, etc., may affect the fetal head position and prevent it from turning downward naturally;

(3) Obstruction of fetal reception, such as narrow pelvis, cephalopelvic disproportion, placenta previa, obstruction of the soft birth canal, and a short umbilical cord;

(4) It is not easy to connect the fetus to the pelvis with the fetal name if it is a deformed fetus, such as hydrocephalus or anencephaly. Most of these reasons can be treated and handled in time through gynecological and B-ultrasound examinations.

3. Solution

1. Before 28 weeks of pregnancy, you can do knee-chest lying position exercises, once in the morning, noon and evening, each time for 10 minutes, for 1 week, the fetal position can be corrected. The posture is, on a hard bed, with chest and knees planted, buttocks raised, thighs and bed vertical, chest should be as close to the bed as possible, but be sure to loosen your belt before doing it.

2. If the above two methods do not work, you can consider turning the baby over from the outside, allowing the baby to turn 180 degrees again, and then use cloth to wrap the abdomen to maintain the head position. The specific method is to use force to touch the baby's head on the abdominal cavity, then slowly turn the baby's head into the pelvis, and then pull the buttocks up. Of course, this kind of treatment must be done by a doctor. If you do it yourself, it may cause the umbilical cord to be wrapped around the fetus' neck or cause fetal abruption. If the baby's buttocks and feet have already extended into the pelvis and it is difficult to turn over, or the fetal heartbeat changes during turning over, you can't make do with it. You can only let this "stubborn" baby be born standing up. Caesarean section is safer.
