What causes vaginal bleeding?

Everyone knows that women will have vaginal bleeding during menstruation, which is a very normal physiological phenomenon. However, some women often encounter symptoms of abnormal vaginal bleeding in their lives. It may be just a little bleeding, or it may last for a very short time, but it is still abnormal. Today, the editor will explain the triggering factors in detail so that patients with symptoms can understand it.

If vaginal bleeding occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle, that is, about 14 days before menstruation, lasts for 1-2 hours or 1-2 days, and the amount is small, rarely reaching the menstrual amount, it is generally caused by ovulation, also known as ovulation bleeding, which is a normal phenomenon.

Because sexual life can cause contact bleeding due to vaginal or cervical tumors, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, etc., but the amount of bleeding is generally not much. If the amount of bleeding is heavy, it is mostly due to vaginal wall laceration caused by fragile vaginal tissue or overly rough sexual intercourse. In addition, vaginal bleeding may also be related to oral contraceptives. Women who regularly take oral contraceptives may sometimes experience irregular vaginal spotting, which may be related to missed doses of contraceptives. However, some people do not miss any doses and may avoid this problem by adjusting their medication.

Vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy may be a sign of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. If vaginal bleeding occurs in late pregnancy, you should be alert to the possibility of some special pregnancy-related diseases or premature birth. If vaginal bleeding occurs after delivery, it is necessary to consider diseases related to delivery, such as residual products of conception in the uterine cavity or infection of the uterine wound or opening of the incision after cesarean section. Abnormal vaginal bleeding may also be caused by various inflammatory diseases, the most common of which are Trichomonas vaginitis and senile vaginitis, but the amount of bleeding is generally small.

The editor strongly recommends that women who experience this symptom should not think that the condition can be relieved by simply paying attention to genital hygiene. Instead, they should have a careful examination by a gynecologist and, if necessary, an abdominal B-ultrasound, to avoid worsening of some diseases. In addition, you should always wash your genitals with clean water and change your underwear.
