What is the reason for black vaginal discharge?

If your vaginal discharge turns black, it is likely ovulation bleeding. Physiological ovulation bleeding is normal. The bleeding period usually lasts 2-3 days and the amount of bleeding is not particularly large. The color of bleeding will vary depending on the individual's constitution and physiological condition. If it is pathological bleeding, special attention should be paid. It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up at this time, and avoid going during menstruation.

If black vaginal discharge appears one or two days before or after your period, it may just be normal physiological bleeding that causes the change in vaginal discharge color. Under normal circumstances, the amount of leucorrhea will not be too much. If the characteristics of leucorrhea, such as quality, quantity, color, and smell, change abnormally, it means that it is a manifestation of a certain disease. Black vaginal discharge is mostly caused by blood in the vaginal discharge. Common diseases include the following:

1. Cervicitis (erosion): Many married women suffer from cervicitis, especially those with moderate or severe cervical erosion. During sexual intercourse, the glans of the male's penis rubs against the cervix, which can cause injury and bleeding.

2. Endometriosis: Some endometriosis grows in the cervix and appears as blue-purple nodules. The amount of bleeding is generally small and dark red, and abdominal pain often occurs after intercourse.

3. Cervical cancer: Bleeding after sexual intercourse or bloody vaginal discharge are its earliest symptoms. Because there are more small blood vessels and the tissues are more fragile in the cancer lesions, the capillaries will rupture and bleed due to damage after each sexual intercourse.

4. Filterable viruses infect the cervix, vagina and vulva: For example, filterable viruses that cause colds and filterable diseases such as genital warts often cause increased leucorrhea.

Black vaginal discharge indicates that it is caused by blood in the uterus or vaginal bleeding. It is necessary to observe whether brown leucorrhea appears after menstruation. If this continues for a long time, you must get checked in time, as possible causes may include vaginitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, endometrial lesions, tumors, etc. You should go to the hospital for examination in time to avoid causing greater harm.

Many women feel even more frightened when they see this situation. Some people think it is their privacy and are embarrassed to communicate with doctors. Doctors have good professional ethics and will not disclose patients' privacy casually. So you don’t have to worry about this. The last thing you need to be reminded of is that you must go to a regular hospital for the examination.
