Drink less amniotic fluid and go to the toilet all the time

If a pregnant woman with too much amniotic fluid drinks less water, will the amniotic fluid be restored? Many pregnant mothers have this confusion: when there is too little amniotic fluid, the doctor will suggest drinking more water. But if there is too much amniotic fluid, do they just need to drink less water? Actually, it is not. Let’s take a look together below.

How do you know if you have too much or too little amniotic fluid?

The size and weight of the abdomen cannot determine the amount of amniotic fluid in a pregnant woman. We have found that B-ultrasound can estimate the amniotic fluid flow relatively accurately (not absolutely accurate). Pregnant mothers should pay attention to our ultrasound reports. There is an item called the amniotic fluid index (AFI), which is an indicator of the amniotic fluid flow. If the index value reaches 451080x, it is considered that the amniotic fluid is too much; if it is less than 200px, it is considered that the amniotic fluid is too little; if it is less than 125px, it is considered that the amniotic fluid is too little.

The key causes of polyhydramnios:

1. The pregnant mother suffers from metabolic diseases, such as high blood sugar in pregnant women;

2. If a pregnant woman has heart, liver, kidney and other diseases, she is also likely to have polyhydramnios.

3. Malformed fetuses: digestive tract obstruction, head and neck malformations (cleft lip and palate, and some diseases that affect swallowing), cardiovascular and cerebrovascular malformations, and skeletal malformations;

4. Umbilical cord prolapse: In fact, umbilical cord prolapse is caused by excessive amniotic fluid.

What should I do if I have too much amniotic fluid?

1. If there is too much amniotic fluid, the first thing to do is to determine whether the baby has any malformations, especially digestive system malformations and central nervous system malformations. Secondly, we need to see if the mother has high blood sugar. Mothers with gestational diabetes are also prone to polyhydramnios. If there is also fetal hydrops, then we need to consider whether there is a mismatch between maternal and fetal blood forms, and whether the fetus has intrauterine infection. Some cases of polyhydramnios cannot be diagnosed due to unknown causes, which is called "refractory polyhydramnios".

2. Drink less nourishing soup: Expectant mothers can drink less nourishing soup and eat more diuretic food. Some people also add a little red beans or corn silk to the soup to drain the water. In addition, expectant mothers should eat more high-protein and low-fat foods, stay in bed often, and closely observe changes in amniotic fluid flow to prevent premature births.

3. Amniocentesis to reduce the flow of amniotic fluid: If excessive amniotic fluid has caused mild or severe discomfort to the mother, active measures must be taken: if the fetus is already intact, the baby can be delivered; if the fetus is very small and not suitable for delivery, amniocentesis can be performed to reduce the flow of amniotic fluid to avoid causing breathing discomfort to the mother or even complications.

Warm reminder: If a pregnant woman is found to have excessive amniotic fluid, she must regularly do fetal heart rate monitoring and B-ultrasound examinations, pay attention to the growth and development of the fetus, check whether the fetus has oxygen deficiency, and also pay attention to any signs of premature birth. Pregnant women who meet the requirements can buy a blood pressure monitor and monitor it at home at any time to understand the physical condition of the fetus at the first time and ensure the health of the fetus to the greatest extent.
