What are the causes of uterine prolapse?

At present, the probability of women suffering from uterine prolapse is very high, so many women are more concerned about this issue. However, they are often not aware of the symptoms and causes of uterine prolapse. In fact, the causes of uterine prolapse are constantly being discovered, and the degree of uterine prolapse now has a clear classification, which is conducive to the treatment of uterine prolapse.

When the uterus descends or prolapses along the vagina from its normal position, when the external cervical opening reaches below the level of the ischial spine, or even when the uterus completely prolapses out of the vaginal opening, it is called uterine prolapse. The main symptoms are: soreness in the lumbar and sacral area, especially in the sacral area, which is more obvious after work and can be relieved by bed rest; vaginal prolapse; urinary tract symptoms such as urinary incontinence, urine overflow, dysuria, urine retention, etc.; menstrual changes, excessive leucorrhea, which may be accompanied by bloody secretions. Occasionally there are severe peritoneal irritation symptoms.

Causes of uterine prolapse include: birth injury, loose and weak tissue supporting the uterus, and increased intra-abdominal pressure. In addition to the above causes, long-term chronic cough, constipation, ascites or huge tumors in the pelvic and abdominal cavity may also cause it.

The cause of uterine prolapse is the defect of pelvic supporting tissue. Therefore, the treatment principle is to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and fascia tension, promote the recovery of pelvic floor function, and treat chronic diseases such as cough and constipation that increase abdominal pressure. There are non-surgical treatments and surgical treatments. The former includes pessaries, pelvic floor muscle (levator ani muscle) exercises, etc.; the latter is suitable for patients with prolapse of grade II or above, patients with symptoms of rectocele and cystocele, and patients who do not respond to conservative treatment. It includes surgery to strengthen pelvic fascia support, total vaginal hysterectomy, anterior and posterior vaginal wall repair, and vaginal closure.

For women, the troubles and pain caused by uterine prolapse can be imagined. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to learn and understand more about it, which is not only beneficial for its diagnosis and treatment, but also for its prevention. Of course, this alone is not enough, we should also take measures in many aspects.
