Female sexual bleeding refers to local bleeding in the vagina or external genitalia during or after sexual intercourse. Generally, the amount of bleeding is not large, and only a very small number can cause heavy bleeding. There are many reasons for bleeding during female sexual intercourse, which can be roughly divided into two categories: improper sexual intercourse and local organic lesions of the female reproductive system, with the latter being more common.

1. Most of the bleeding during female sexual intercourse is caused by organic diseases of the reproductive system, and only a few are caused by rough male movements or improper sexual intercourse. The first night of marriage; the first sexual intercourse, bleeding due to rupture and damage of the hymen, generally the amount of bleeding is small, only a few people have thick hymen, and the man's movements are too rough, which can cause more bleeding.

2. For elderly women, due to atrophy of gonads, the secretion of sex hormones decreases, the vagina atrophies, the vaginal epithelium becomes fragile, the tissue becomes fibrotic and lacks elasticity, the vaginal exudate becomes less and becomes dry, and rough movements, forced insertion, and improper sexual intercourse during intercourse can also cause vaginal injury, rupture of blood vessels and bleeding.

3. Pregnant women, during the first three months and the last three months of pregnancy, sexual intercourse stimulates the cervix, causing violent contractions of the uterus and bleeding during sexual intercourse. A small number of women even suffer miscarriage or premature birth as a result. This requires special attention.

4. Vaginal hypoplasia, narrow or deformed vagina. Rough movements during sexual intercourse may cause lacerations of the vaginal wall or posterior fornix, resulting in vaginal bleeding.

5. Organic lesions in the female reproductive tract can often lead to bleeding during sexual intercourse. For example, vulvar ulcers can cause friction on the ulcer surface during sexual intercourse, causing pain and bleeding. Vaginitis is caused by the massive shedding of the vaginal epithelium and congestion of the vaginal mucosa. During sexual intercourse, the penis thrusts and rubs in the vagina, causing damage, rupture and bleeding of the vaginal mucosa. The urethral caruncle grows at the female urethral opening. Because of its brittle texture, the slightest touch during sexual intercourse can cause bleeding. Cervical erosion is caused by the exfoliation of the epithelium around the external os of the cervix, which exposes the fragile subcutaneous tissue and forms an eroded surface. During sexual intercourse, the impact of the penis causes bleeding. Due to the infiltration of cancer cells, cervical cancer tissue becomes fragile and often causes contact bleeding during sexual intercourse. The urethra and vagina are adjacent to each other. When the urethra is inflamed, it is easily squeezed and injured during sexual intercourse, causing bleeding.

The main causes of bleeding during sexual intercourse

1. Cervicitis (erosion). 90% of married women suffer from cervicitis. Cervicitis is divided into three types: mild, moderate and severe according to the degree of cervical erosion. For patients with moderate or severe cervical erosion, the rubbing of the cervix by the glans of the male's penis during sexual intercourse may cause injury and bleeding. Because the amount of bleeding is small, it does not flow out immediately but accumulates in the vagina, and the color of the blood changes from fresh to old. Therefore, when the blood flows out the next day, it is dark red.

2. Cervical polyps. Chronic inflammation may cause cervical polyps due to long-term stimulation of the cervix. Single or multiple small pedunculated granulation tissues grow at the cervical opening, looking like bean buds, and the larger ones are as big as a finger. Polyps are fragile and tender, and will bleed if touched, so bleeding may occur after sexual intercourse. This bleeding is usually bright red.

3. Cervical cancer. Bleeding after sexual intercourse is the earliest symptom. Because there are more small blood vessels and the tissues are more fragile in the cancer lesions, the capillaries will rupture and bleed due to damage after each sexual intercourse. If the cancer grows further, it will bleed more easily.

4. Endometriosis. Some endometriosis grows on the cervix and appears as blue-purple nodules. If this blue-purple ectopic nodule is touched during sexual intercourse, it will cause bleeding. The amount of bleeding is generally small and dark red, and abdominal pain often occurs after intercourse.

5. Pelvic inflammatory disease. Pelvic inflammation can cause pelvic congestion. If the endometrium is congested and edematous, sex may cause the congested endometrium to release hormones, but this opportunity is rare.
