How to prevent bowel movement after normal delivery

In fact, in daily life, women need to rest in bed after giving birth and avoid doing strenuous exercise. However, they should still move around after their symptoms improve. They cannot lie down for a long time, as it will cause constipation. They should drink more boiled water. So let us learn about the prevention methods of defecation after normal delivery.

Prevention methods:

1. Get out of bed and move around as soon as possible: physical exercise can promote intestinal motility and help restore muscle tension. Generally, the mother will sit up 6-8 hours after natural delivery, do some turning over activities, adopt various sleeping or sitting positions, and also gently massage her lower abdomen. On the second day, go out and walk back and forth indoors without getting tired, but avoid squatting or standing for long periods of time. For those who have cesarean section without complications, try to walk around indoors on the second day after delivery. If there are complications, follow the doctor's instructions and do not get out of bed too early.

2. Do postpartum gymnastics in bed, anal contraction exercises, exercise the pelvic floor muscles, and promote blood circulation in the anus. The method is to perform the action of holding back a bowel movement, lift the anus upwards, and then relax. Once in the morning and evening, 10-30 times each time.

Effective anal lifting exercises - Kegel exercises, as long as they are performed correctly and persistently, the success rate of constipation treatment can reach about 70%, and they can be easily performed whether sitting, lying or even standing. Kegel exercises mainly train the levator ani muscles (a type of smooth muscle surrounding the rectum and anal canal, which contracts during defecation to ensure the anus is open). Those who give birth normally should start doing this on the second day after delivery.

Kegel exercises are performed as follows:

(1) Lie on your back with your knees bent, similar to the posture for a gynecological examination before delivery.

(2) Contract your pelvic floor muscles, just like when you suddenly hold your urine during urination.

(3) Continue contracting for about 10 seconds, then relax for 10 seconds. Repeat 15 times, once a day.

Key points: The posture and strength must be correct; except for the levator ani muscles, there is no need to use strength in the abdomen, thighs and buttocks; the number of exercises and the intensity of contraction need to be determined according to the physical condition of the mother and the situation of the operation. It is best to consult a doctor in advance.

3. The diet of the postpartum woman should be reasonably balanced, combining meat and vegetables, and eating some fresh vegetables, fruits and melons appropriately. Eat less spicy foods such as chili, pepper, mustard, and especially avoid drinking alcohol. Sesame oil and honey have a laxative effect and should be consumed more often after childbirth. Make sure to maintain regular bowel movement habits every day. If constipation symptoms are severe, laxatives may be used.

4. Drinking more soup has many benefits. Soups that increase milk production generally contain a certain amount of oil, which can lubricate the intestines and promote defecation.

The above article has introduced in detail the methods to prevent defecation after normal delivery. I believe everyone has a relatively preliminary understanding, so in daily life, you should pay more attention to your body and do some appropriate exercises according to your body.
