Treatment of cervical polyps

Treatment of cervical polyps

Nowadays hospitals are becoming more and more specialized. The men's hospital is called Apollo Hospital, which mainly treats male reproductive physiological diseases. The women's hospital is called Maria Hospital, which specializes in treating female reproductive physiological diseases. It feels more scientific. Here I will introduce the treatment method for cervical polyps. Obviously, this is a female reproductive disease. I hope it will be helpful to female friends.

1. Inspection method

1. Cervical scraping shows Pap grade II. Cervical Papanicolaou smear was used in the past to check for cervical polyps. Level one is completely normal, and level two is abnormal, which may be inflammation or early cervical precancerous lesions. Further examinations should be conducted to clarify that the best method is the TCT ultra-thin cell test, which can not only detect low-grade lesions before cervical polyps and early cancer, but also accurately diagnose Trichomonas, fungi, bacteria, human papillomavirus and herpes virus infections.

2. Gynecological examination: Acute inflammation may show congestion, edema or erosion of the cervix, with purulent secretions. There may be pain when the endocervical discharge touches the cervix. Chronic cervicitis may show varying degrees of erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, and ectropion of the cervix. There may also be purulent secretions at the cervical opening. The cervix may be hard upon palpation. If it is a cervical polyp, there may be contact bleeding.

3. Patients with more serious cervical polyps can undergo cervical biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. When the cervix is exposed with a vaginal speculum during a routine gynecological examination, the polyps seen are of varying sizes and shapes.

II. Treatment

Surgical treatment: Surgical treatment is the most convenient and effective way to solve cervical polyps. Generally, the operation is performed 3-7 days after the menstruation ends. The operation mainly uses vascular clamps to remove the polyps. After the operation, gauze is used to compress and stop bleeding, and then local medicine is applied to reduce inflammation. However, surgical treatment only removes polyps and cannot effectively solve the problem of inflammation, so polyps may still recur.

Drug treatment: Drugs can treat both internal and external diseases. If cervical polyps are caused by endocrine disorders, drugs can be used to regulate them. Drug treatment is very effective in preventing the recurrence of cervical polyps.

Cervical polyps are the result of chronic inflammation. As the polyps grow larger, sexual intercourse and repeated stimulation of inflammation may lead to infection or increased bloody secretions. At this time, cervical polyps are the root of the disease, and red discharge is the symptom of the disease. Therefore, surgical removal of polyps should be the main treatment, and it can also be combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

Regardless of the size of the removed polyps, pathological examination must be performed, because cervical polyps have a malignant transformation rate of 0.2% to 0.4%. Although this rate is very low, do not miss the diagnosis due to carelessness. In addition, although the polyps are removed, the inflammation of the cervix is not completely eliminated. Because the polyps may recur, the patient needs regular check-ups.

If cervical polyps are not treated, they may gradually grow larger and block the cervical opening, causing infertility. They may also cause bleeding during sexual intercourse or bloody leucorrhea. More importantly, cervical polyps may become cancerous. Therefore, once cervical polyps are found, they should be removed.

3. Causes of relapse

1. Cervical polyps are caused by chronic inflammation. Simply removing the polyps will still cause inflammatory stimulation to the cervical canal, so the polyps may recur.

2. Some polyps grow deep in the cervical canal. When they are removed, the roots of the polyps are not completely eradicated, so that polyps grow from the roots again soon.

3. Some patients have more than one cervical polyp of different sizes. During the operation, only the larger polyps visible to the naked eye are removed, while the smaller polyps that are not easy to see with the naked eye or those hidden deep in the cervical canal are not removed together. Later, these small polyps that have been missed gradually grow larger and grow out of the cervical opening, forming new cervical polyps visible to the naked eye.

The above are the treatment methods for cervical polyps, and also introduce the examination and causes of recurrence. It can be seen that the disease is likely to recur, which means that surgery may solve the current problem, but there is a possibility of recurrence in the future. It is best to cooperate with drug treatment. In addition, eating a light diet and maintaining a good mood during the treatment process will greatly help the cure of the disease.
