Treatment of postoperative dysuria

Treatment of postoperative dysuria

Difficulty urinating after surgery is a problem that many people encounter. Due to various reasons, many patients will experience difficulty urinating after surgery. Therefore, some patients who experience difficulty urinating after surgery want to fully understand the treatment methods for postoperative difficulty urinating in order to be able to urinate as soon as possible. The following is a detailed introduction so that you can have a comprehensive understanding.

The first situation is that difficulty in urination occurs 4-6 hours or longer after surgery. This is probably due to the anesthesia. Because during hemorrhoid surgery, anesthesia is required to prevent pain in the surgical area and surrounding tissues.

The bladder and urethra are neighbors of the anus, and the nerves that control them are also affected by anesthetics. Therefore, when the anesthesia effect has not yet worn off, temporary difficulty in urination may occur. As the anesthetic wears off, urination function will gradually return to normal.

The second situation: it is caused by non-anesthetic reasons. Mainly, the muscles around the anus (sphincter) are stimulated by the surgery, and the pain and stimulation of defecation will cause the nerves of these sphincters to connect with the nerves that control the bladder and urethral sphincter. Therefore, when the anal sphincter spasms and contracts, the sphincters of the urethra and bladder also spasm and contract, which may result in difficulty urinating.

Diagnosis and treatment

If you find yourself having difficulty urinating, you should seek medical help immediately and never leave it alone. Doctors have many ways to treat this disease, such as acupressure, acupuncture and massage. If conservative treatment is ineffective, an indwelling urinary catheter may be considered.

But generally speaking, drinking more water at home and using simple auxiliary methods can help relieve urinary retention. We introduce several methods to you.

1. Conditioned reflex method: turn on the water pipe or pour water with a cup, let the sound of running water stimulate the urination center and induce urination.

2. Local hot compress method: Heat 500 grams of salt, wrap it in a cloth, and apply it to the lower abdomen while it is hot. After it cools down, heat it again and apply it. This will help urination.

3. Blowing the nose to induce sneezing: Use a small amount of soap bean powder, blow it into the nose to induce sneezing, which can often lead to successful urination.

4. Pressure massage: Massage the lower abdomen while urinating and gradually apply pressure to promote urination.

5. Breathing regulation method: inhale twice, exhale once, and repeat until you urinate.

6. Method to relieve constipation: Use a suppository, insert it into the anus, and defecate when you feel the urge. Urine will usually be discharged with the feces.

If postoperative urination difficulties are not effectively relieved, it will cause serious harm to the patient's body and the patient will feel particularly uncomfortable. Therefore, for many patients who have postoperative urination difficulties, it is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of the above content and understand the treatment methods in order to solve their urination difficulties as soon as possible and restore their urination to normal as soon as possible.
