Is it serious if I have brown discharge after my period has not come?

Generally speaking, the vagina should secrete normal, colorless and odorless leucorrhea. Recently, I heard from a female colleague that she did not have her period last month, but only had some brown discharge. She didn’t know what was going on, so let’s take a look at whether it is serious to have brown discharge instead of menstruation?

Brown discharge is a symptom of abnormal leucorrhea and should be taken seriously. Abnormal vaginal discharge may simply be an increase in amount, or it may also be accompanied by changes in color, texture, and odor. Experts point out that abnormal leucorrhea must not be taken lightly. If it is not treated in time and not eradicated, serious sequelae may occur, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, etc. In severe cases, terminal illnesses such as vaginal cancer, uterine cancer, and cervical cancer may occur. Most middle-aged women who suffer from cancer do so because they did not pay attention to abnormal leucorrhea when they were young, which caused the disease to worsen.

It may also be caused by premenstrual bleeding and poor corpus luteum function. To put it simply, before the menstruation officially comes, a little bit of the endometrium falls off and mixes with the leucorrhea, which is brown. This is a precursor to menstruation, so don't worry. However, it doesn't happen under normal circumstances. The reason is still endocrine problems, and another reason is a decline in physical fitness. Don’t calculate the ovulation period as it is not very accurate. If you plan to have a child, you should still test your ovulation using test strips. After excluding the possibility of pregnancy, if there is irregular menstrual bleeding for three consecutive months, it is a menstrual disorder and further examination is needed to find out the cause. Early detection and timely treatment are required.

So after reading the above description, you will find that abnormal leucorrhea is likely to cause serious consequences. It is best for women to actively seek symptomatic treatment in the early stages of the problem, rather than allowing it to develop to uncontrollable consequences.
