Unexpected pregnancy among teenage girls has become a common phenomenon. Because many teenage girls now have sexual contact at an early age, unexpected pregnancy is inevitable. Therefore, many women in this situation want to know specifically about the prevention measures and treatment methods for unexpected early pregnancy among teenage girls. In order for you to have a comprehensive understanding, let's take a look at the introduction below.

Preventive measures

A large part of the causes of unwanted pregnancies come from the wrong choice of contraceptive methods by both men and women, such as the rhythm method, withdrawal method and vaginal method. These are all wrong contraceptive methods and can easily lead to contraceptive failure and unwanted pregnancy.

In fact, there are many contraceptive methods available at present. We mainly divide them into long-acting contraceptive methods and short-acting contraceptive methods according to the duration of their effectiveness; according to the different routes of use, they are divided into drug contraception, tool contraception, and surgical contraception. Commonly used contraceptive methods include intrauterine devices and condoms, and drug contraception mainly includes oral contraceptives. Subcutaneous contraceptive implants combine the advantages of both contraceptive methods and drug contraception.

There are many types of contraceptive methods: men can use male condoms; women can use oral contraceptive pills, contraceptive injections, uterine rings, cervical caps, female condoms, topical contraceptives or ovulation prediction methods. For those who have decided not to have children, they can choose permanent contraception methods such as vasectomy for men or tubal ligation for women.

However, if no contraceptive method is used during sexual intercourse, or if contraception fails, emergency contraception can be used to avoid unwanted pregnancy - that is, taking emergency contraceptive pills within seventy-two hours after sexual intercourse, or wearing an intrauterine device within five days after sexual intercourse. However, both of them must be used after consulting a doctor. Currently, the over-the-counter emergency contraceptive pills available in pharmacies include Yuting, mifepristone tablets, Baoshiting and Nuoshuang. The dosage of Yuting, Baoshiting and Nuoshuang is the same: take the first tablet within 72 hours after sexual intercourse, and take the second tablet after another 12 hours. The method of taking mifepristone is: take 1 tablet on an empty stomach within 72 hours of sexual intercourse, and then fast for 2 hours. Under the guidance of a doctor, it can also be used in combination with prostaglandins to terminate pregnancy within 49 days of amenorrhea. At the same time, for women who have medium- and long-term contraceptive plans, taking long-term contraceptive pills, inserting IUDs, or implanting etonogestrel implants can prevent and avoid unwanted pregnancies.
