What is the structure of the uterus?

As we all know, the uterus is a very important part of a woman. But that's all I know. If you want to know more about the uterus. Then you must not miss this article. What is the structure of the uterus? Regarding this question, I will give you the most comprehensive and systematic answer. I believe that after you understand it, you will definitely benefit a lot. So, come with me to find out.

The uterus is located in the center of the pelvis, with the bladder in front and the rectum behind. It looks like an inverted pear and is slightly flattened front and back. The uterus of an adult woman is about 7-8 cm long, 4-5 cm wide, and 2-3 cm thick. The upper part is wider and triangular, which is the uterine body. The top of the uterus is protruding, becoming the fundus of the uterus, and its two sides are connected to the fallopian tubes, called the uterine horns. The lower part of the uterus is cylindrical or prismatic, which is the cervix.

The inner cavity of the cervix is the cervical canal, the upper end of which is the internal os of the cervix, which communicates with the uterine cavity, and the lower end is the external os of the cervix, which communicates with the vagina. The cervix is divided into two parts by the vaginal attachment part. The part above the vaginal attachment part is called the upper vagina, and the part below the attachment part extends into the vagina, called the cervical vaginal part. The external cervical os of women who have not given birth is mostly round, while the external cervical os of women who have given birth vaginally generally has transverse fissures of varying sizes.

The tissue structure of the uterus is as follows: the uterus is a hollow tissue, and the uterine wall from the outside to the inside (uterine cavity) is composed of three layers of tissue: the uterine serosa, the uterine muscle layer and the uterine mucosa layer. The 2/3 layer of the surface of the endometrium can undergo periodic changes and exfoliation with the changes in ovarian hormones, resulting in menstruation, and is called the functional layer; the lower 1/3 layer, which is close to the myometrium, cannot undergo periodic changes and is called the basal layer.

The cervix is mainly composed of dense connective tissue. The mucosal epithelial cells of the cervical canal are tall columnar, and there are many glands in the mucosal layer that can secrete alkaline mucus. The epithelium of the cervical vagina is stratified squamous epithelium. The squamous epithelium and the columnar epithelium of the cervical canal intersect at the external os of the cervix, which is a common site for cervical cancer.

What is the structure of the uterus? We all know this by now. Moreover, we also know that the internal structure of the uterus is very complex. The uterus is the part that nurtures new life, so female friends should take some effective care of the uterus to make your uterus healthier and prevent some diseases.
