How to distinguish a lump on the breast

As a woman, we all know that when menstruation comes, the breasts will feel swollen and painful, and it feels like a lump, but we don’t know what is going on. For female friends who have a lump on their breast, it is best to identify it before taking the right medicine. Do not take medicine or apply anything randomly. Below, the editor will introduce to you how to distinguish a lump on the breast.

A lump on the breast usually refers to a disease that causes a lump on the breast due to the different composition of breast tissue. The most important thing in identifying a breast lump is to distinguish between benign and malignant. Except for breast cancer which is malignant, the lumps caused by breast fibroadenoma, breast hyperplasia, breast milk cyst, breast fat necrosis, etc. are all benign.

How to differentiate a lump on the breast:

1. Mastitis: Mastitis is a common disease among women. According to the different causes, it can be divided into acute suppurative mastitis, paraareolar fistula, plasma cell mastitis, etc. Acute suppurative mastitis often occurs during lactation, especially in primiparas. Milk stasis is caused by bacterial infection, which presents as acute inflammation with symptoms of redness, swelling, heat, pain, chills and high fever. In the early stage, it can be treated by manual milk discharge and Chinese medicine patches. After suppuration, incision and drainage are required. After the onset of the disease, not only does the mother suffer extreme pain, but she can also not continue breastfeeding, which affects the health of the baby.

2. Breast hyperplasia: Breast hyperplasia refers to the proliferation of breast epithelial and fibrous tissue, structural degenerative lesions of breast ducts and lobules, and progressive growth of connective tissue. The main cause of the disease is endocrine hormone imbalance. Fibrocystic breast disease is the most common breast disease in women, and its incidence ranks first among breast diseases. In recent years, the incidence of this disease has been increasing year by year, and the age of patients has been getting younger and younger. According to surveys, about 70% to 80% of women have varying degrees of breast hyperplasia, which is more common in women aged 25 to 45.

3. Lobular hyperplasia: This disease may occur at any age after puberty. The lesion is a pathological process characterized by dilatation, hyperplasia and cystic changes of glandular lobules and breast duct terminals. The depression, loneliness and anxiety caused by adverse mental stimulation are the "catalysts" of lobular breast hyperplasia, which are more common in women aged 25 to 40 who have irregular menstruation, small menstrual flow, short menstrual period, are unmarried, childless, or are not breastfeeding or have poor breastfeeding.

4. Breast fibroadenoma: It is a mixed tumor of fibrous tissue and glandular epithelium occurring in the mammary lobule. It is the most common type of benign breast tumor. Breast fibroadenomas can occur in women of any age after puberty, but are more common in young women aged 18 to 25. The occurrence of this disease is related to endocrine hormone imbalance, such as relative or absolute increase in estrogen can cause this disease.
