What is atypical squamous cell cervix?

It is quite normal for women to suffer from gynecological diseases, and gynecological diseases are particularly harmful to women's bodies. Sometimes they affect women's normal lives, and in some serious cases they even affect their lives, such as cancer caused by some gynecological emergencies. Therefore, gynecological diseases must be taken seriously. Many women are troubled by atypical squamous cell abnormalities of the cervix. If such a disease occurs, they must go to the hospital for examination and confirmation of the condition in time. Let’s take a look at what atypical squamous cell abnormality of the cervix is.

What is atypical squamous cell cervix?

Patients with atypical squamous cell lesions have cervical epithelial squamous cell lesions, which can cause cell mutations. Squamous cell carcinoma: Cervical cancer is mainly composed of squamous cell carcinoma, accounting for about 90% to 95%, while adenocarcinoma accounts for only 5% to 10%. However, there is no special difference in appearance between the two types of cancer, and both occur in the cervical vagina or endocervical canal.

(I) Before developing into invasive cancer, there is no special abnormality observed with the naked eye, or it is similar to common cervical erosion.

With the onset of invasive cancer, the cervix may present in one of four patterns:

1. Erosive type: There are rough granular erosion areas around the surface of the external cervical os, or irregular ulcerated surfaces that are easy to bleed when touched.

2. Exophytic type: also known as hyperplastic type or cauliflower type. It develops into polyp-like or papillary protrusions, and then develops into cauliflower-like growths of varying sizes that protrude into the vagina. They are brittle and prone to bleeding.

3. Endogenous type: also known as infiltrative type. Cancerous tissue infiltrates deep into the cervical tissues, causing the cervix to become enlarged and hard, but the surface is still smooth or has only superficial ulcers.

4. Ulcerative type: Regardless of the exogenous or endogenous type, after further development, the cancerous tissue will necrotize and fall off, forming an ulcer, and even the entire cervix may be replaced by a large cavity. Because secondary infection is common, foul-smelling secretions are discharged.

Cervical cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, can also grow into the endocervical canal, causing the cervix to become barrel-shaped and enlarged. This is also a type of endogenous cancer. In your case, it is best to undergo further examinations, such as colposcopy or biopsy, to clarify the specific circumstances of cervical lesions (related consultation related content), and then take targeted treatment.

The above is an introduction to what atypical squamous cell abnormality of the cervix is. When we suffer from such a disease in our daily lives, we have some understanding of the symptoms of the disease and will not be too worried or anxious. However, it is worth noting that if you have gynecological diseases, you should not always blindly take medicine on your own. You must go to a regular hospital for examination and diagnosis, and then follow the doctor's advice and opinions for treatment.
