Is it possible to conceive with a single fallopian tube?

Becoming a happy mother and having a lovely baby is the biggest wish of every woman. So, for some women who only have one fallopian tube, can they realize this dream? We know that normal conception requires the joint action of the left and right fallopian tubes. So if one side is removed, does it mean that the chance of conception is reduced by half? Let's take a look at the chances of unilateral fallopian tube pregnancy.

The fallopian tubes are located in the human pelvic cavity. Most people have two fallopian tubes, the left and right fallopian tubes are located on each side of the uterus. They extend outward from the outer corner of the fundus of the uterus in parallel, first reaching the uterine end of the ovary, then ascending along the ovarian mesocolonial margin to the fallopian tube end of the ovary, in an arch shape and covering the ovary, then downward and inward, ending at the free edge of the ovary and the upper part of its inner surface. The fallopian tube is surrounded by the two leaves of peritoneum, namely the broad ligament. The part located between the fallopian tube, ovary and ovarian proper ligament is called the mesosalpinx, which contains blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves that supply the fallopian tube. The broad ligament that extends from the ampulla of the fallopian tube and the upper pole of the ovary to the side wall of the pelvis is called the ovarian suspensory ligament, also known as the pelvic funnel ligament.

Therefore, unilateral fallopian tube will definitely affect the chance of pregnancy. But we cannot say that the probability is reduced by half. Make a judgment based on the patient's condition. The factors that affect the success of conception mainly include the level of sex hormones in the body, the patency of the right fallopian tube, whether the right ovary ovulates normally, etc. It is recommended that patients undergo a hysterosalpingography to check the patency of the unresected fallopian tubes. If they are patency, pregnancy is still possible, but the chance is reduced by half compared to normal.

Therefore, there is still hope for patients with unilateral fallopian tube to become mothers. There is no need to worry too much, as conception is somewhat accidental. If you have not taken any contraceptive measures after being married for more than two years and have not become pregnant, you should conduct further examinations to find out the cause of infertility and actively receive symptomatic treatment. Get more rest, actively prepare for pregnancy, and ensure good birth and upbringing. Maintaining healthy living habits and a relaxed and happy mood is beneficial to eugenics and good upbringing. I wish you all to have a baby soon.
