Recently I learned about a disease called albinism on TV. I believe everyone has heard of this disease. The most common symptom is that the skin and hair of the whole body are white or yellow, which looks quite scary. There are three types of albinism. The least common and least symptom is vulvar albinism. Vulvar albinism is manifested as light yellow pubic hair and vulva, which are not like normal people and are white or yellow, but there are no symptoms. So what are the precautions for vulvar albinism? Note the following: (1) In daily life, you should wear loose, breathable underwear, mainly made of pure cotton, and avoid wearing underwear made of chemical fibers such as acrylic; (2) The affected area should be kept dry, ventilated, and cool; (3) Some women are too hygienic and have the habit of washing their vulva once or several times a day. We recommend that since the female vulva has a self-cleaning function, it is generally sufficient to wash it 2-3 times a week. Do not use any detergents when washing (because they are generally alkaline). Just use warm water and avoid using water that is too hot. (4) In daily life, we should pay attention to regulating life stress and emotions, and stay optimistic and cheerful. In this regard, the patient's family should actively cooperate to help them build up confidence in overcoming the disease. The difference between vulvar leukoplakia, vitiligo and albinism 1. Vitiligo - If there are clearly defined white areas on the vulva skin, but the surface is smooth and moist, the texture is completely normal, and there are no subjective symptoms, it is vitiligo. 2. Vulvar albinism is a systemic hereditary disease, but it may also occur only locally in the vulva. Localized albinism of the vulva has no subjective symptoms, and biopsy shows no special changes except the disappearance of epidermal pigment. 3. Behcet's disease---mainly manifested as genital ulcers, often accompanied by eye and oral lesions. Also called eye, mouth, and genital syndrome. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it fox-induced disease. 4. Although vulvar leukoplakia is different from albinism, vitiligo and Behcet's disease, it is possible for them to occur simultaneously. Pathological biopsy is the only means of diagnosis. Although vulvar albinism has no symptoms, severe cases can affect people's normal lives. Therefore, effective prevention of vulvar albinism and some precautions are good advice for people with this disease. People with this disease should try to avoid sun exposure and must have regular physical examinations to avoid serious consequences that may affect the occurrence of other diseases. |
