What to do if your feet hurt during late pregnancy

We all know that conceiving a baby is a very important thing for every family. Everyone hopes that their baby can be healthy. Therefore, when pregnant women have some physical symptoms, their families and themselves are always very worried. Women are particularly prone to some symptoms during pregnancy. Foot pain in the late pregnancy is a relatively common symptom. Let us understand what to do if you have foot pain in the late pregnancy?

What to do if you have leg pain during late pregnancy:

As the uterus grows during pregnancy, it compresses the circulatory and nervous systems, and can easily cause numbness in the limbs. However, this condition often occurs in the late pregnancy and will naturally ease after delivery. You should change your body position frequently when sleeping. If your hands are numb or swollen, you should also consider whether your blood pressure is high during pregnancy. In this case, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for consultation and examination.

Calcium deficiency during pregnancy may cause numbness in the hands and feet.

If a pregnant woman experiences intermittent pain, numbness, tingling or burning sensation in one or both hands, this may be related to compression of the median nerve, the so-called "carpal tunnel syndrome." This syndrome is characterized by pain or paresthesia in the skin of the wrist in the distribution area of the median nerve, mainly decreased or loss of sensation in the thumb, index finger, and middle finger, accompanied by movement disorders, resulting in loss of fine motor skills of the fingers. Symptoms may be triggered by swelling of the hands or by excessive extension or flexion of the wrist.

The hormones secreted during pregnancy, especially relaxin, can cause the fascia, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues to soften and relax, while also compressing the nerves, thus causing the above symptoms. Generally no treatment is required, and the symptoms gradually ease and disappear after delivery.

If numbness and pain are severe, the arm can be elevated and a small wrist splint can be used to immobilize the arm. In addition, adequate rest and the use of painkillers can relieve symptoms. Oral diuretics and local blockade are also effective.

It is recommended that you measure your blood pressure and urine routine to see if you have gestational hypertension and take calcium supplements in time.

You can also put two pillows under your feet before going to bed, and make sure they are padded up. This will also help relieve your foot edema in the later stage.

It is best to soak your feet in warm water before going to bed, and then massage and knead them.

After understanding what to do about foot pain in the late pregnancy, many pregnant women have a better understanding of these symptoms. When many pregnant women experience such symptoms, they should not always be too anxious. They should pay more attention to their diet and eat more foods that help eliminate edema.
