What causes lumps under the armpit?

You may not know much about lumps under the armpits and have not paid attention to this phenomenon. Generally, the lumps that you come into contact with are those on the breasts. Currently, many women are facing the phenomenon of lumps growing in their breasts, so you should learn more about breast lumps. But what causes lumps under the armpits? The editor will show you about it.

Lumps in the armpit are often seen in accessory breasts, some are accompanied by pain, and the symptoms change with the menstrual cycle. Accessory breasts refer to the rudiments of 6 to 8 pairs of mammary glands that grow to about 9 mm in size during the fetal period, along the two lines from the armpits to the groin. Before birth, only a pair of pairs remain in front of the chest, and the rest have degenerated. A small number of women have an abnormal phenomenon of excess breasts that have not degenerated or have incomplete degeneration, which is also known as polymastia, aberrant breasts, and extra breasts. The most common sites are the armpits, but can also be seen on the chest wall, abdomen, groin, and outer thighs.

Generally speaking, accessory breast has the following symptoms:

1. Periodic pain and distension in the axillary area: Most patients experience increased pain upon touching the axilla, but the pain is not obvious at other times.

2. Local lumps vary in size: most are flat, soft to the touch, and have a stringy feel.

3. Most patients have small nipples and nipple discharge: Some patients have small nipples in the armpits or chest, with or without accessory breast development. If you don't pay attention, it is often mistaken for a mole. Accessory nipple discharge is seen in very few patients.

Experts specially remind: Accessory breast is also affected by endocrine like normal breast, and can develop the same diseases as normal breast, such as accessory mastitis, lobular hyperplasia, milk cyst and benign and malignant tumors. Because the site of occurrence is hidden, it is often misdiagnosed and treated incorrectly clinically, so it should be taken seriously.

A lump under the armpit is generally accessory breast. I believe everyone has already understood what kind of disease accessory breast is, but it is difficult to detect accessory breast. When diagnosing your own condition, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. At the same time, I also hope that everyone can pay attention to the phenomenon of lumps, especially female colleagues, who must pay more attention.
