There are 4 types of pain in your body that you must never tolerate!

There are 4 types of pain in your body that you must never tolerate!

Neck and shoulder pain caused by work

Sudden toothache, stomachache, headache...

What would you do at this time?

Most people would probably say

"It's not a big deal, just bear with it and it will pass"

In fact, this approach is wrong

Pain may be a warning signal from your body.

I really don't recommend you to "endure the pain"

Especially these kinds of pain

I really can’t stand it!

(1)

Electric shock pain: mostly nerve damage

When nerve fibers are damaged , the pain caused is mostly sharp pain like needle pricking, knife cutting, or electric shock, which comes and goes suddenly, and some patients even experience pain upon touch.

Common sites and diseases:

① Represented by trigeminal neuralgia and postherpetic neuralgia : pain caused by damage to the nerve itself or the first-order neurons (spinal ganglion neurons), or functional disorders induced by damage.

Caused by nerve compression : It is common in cervical and lumbar disc herniation compressing the nerve roots, causing neck, shoulder, waist and leg pain . The degree of pain is affected by the cervical and lumbar spine movement posture.

(2)

Tearing pain: sudden pain in the chest and back is the most dangerous

There are many diseases that manifest as tearing pain , such as rib fractures after trauma, pleurisy , etc. But the most critical and most common clinical condition is aortic dissection, which is a split blood vessel.

Common sites and diseases:

The pain caused by different dissection locations will be different:

① When the dissection involves the proximal ascending aorta , it manifests as anterior chest pain;

② When the dissection is located in the descending aorta , it often manifests as pain in the scapular area;

③ If the pain migrates , it indicates that the dissection is progressing.

(3)

Dull pain: Cause difficult to pinpoint

The specific location of the pain is unclear , which is common in visceral inflammation or cancer pain . The cause of dull pain requires clinical experts to conduct detailed screening based on symptoms.

Common sites and diseases:

① Gastroenteritis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, chronic appendicitis, etc. can cause dull pain in the abdominal cavity ;

② Some urinary system diseases , such as cystitis and nephritis, can cause dull pain in the waist and lower abdomen;

③Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and ovarian cysts can also cause dull pain in the lower abdomen.

(1)

Headache

The causes of headaches are very complicated. If the following three situations occur, you must pay attention!

① Morning headache:

Morning headaches may be caused by diseases such as cervical vertebrae hyperplasia or hyperlipidemia. When bone hyperplasia compresses the arteries in the neck, it is very easy to cause insufficient blood supply to the brain and cause headaches. It is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible for a CT scan of the head and neck or to test various blood indicators such as blood lipids.

② Gradually worsening headache:

Excluding the effects of migraine or some medications, you should be alert to gradually worsening headaches, as they may be caused by a brain tumor or subdural hematoma.

③ Sudden severe headache:

Cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, brain tumor rupture, etc. may cause sudden severe headaches. Please go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

(2)

Toothache

Most toothache problems are caused by the teeth themselves, such as caries, pulpitis, apical periodontitis, periodontal abscess, etc. These can generally be recovered through symptomatic treatment such as anti-inflammatory and root canal treatment.

However, there are many other causes of toothache.

① Toothache caused by trigeminal neuralgia

Talking, chewing, brushing teeth, or even just a cool breeze can be painful. This pain is usually unilateral, and there may be a "trigger point" that triggers pain when touched. For this kind of pain, it is recommended to see a neurologist for treatment.

② Toothache caused by high blood pressure

For patients with arteriosclerosis and hypertension, increased blood pressure can cause peripheral arteriosclerosis. If the peripheral arterioles spasm and contract at this time, it will cause pulp bleeding and malnutrition of tooth tissue, thus inducing toothache.

People with a history of heart disease or hypertension must be vigilant because this pain may be an atypical symptom of myocardial infarction.

③ Toothache caused by diabetes

Diabetic patients are prone to periodontal disease. Due to high blood sugar, the glucose concentration in saliva increases, the cleaning effect of oral debris will be reduced, and bacteria will be more likely to multiply. At the same time, the immunity of diabetic patients is reduced, and the teeth's ability to remove invading microorganisms is also damaged.

(3)

Chest pain

The chest contains very important organs - the heart and lungs . The causes of chest pain are very complex and vary in severity. Some chest pain is fatal and requires prompt emergency treatment, such as cardiac angina, myocardial infarction, aortic dissection, etc.; non-cardiac pulmonary embolism, certain pneumothorax attacks, etc.

Notice!

Chest pain caused by coronary heart disease is one of the most serious and common types of chest pain. Among 10 first-time cases of coronary heart disease, there is 1 sudden death, 4 myocardial infarctions and 5 angina pectoris. Coronary heart disease is defined as coronary artery stenosis of more than 50%. If chest pain accompanied by dyspnea, cold sweats and weakness lasts for more than 20 minutes and cannot be relieved, you should seek medical attention immediately, as it may be a serious disease such as myocardial infarction.

(4)

stomach ache

Everyone may have stomach pain. The causes of abdominal pain are very complicated, and the location and degree of abdominal pain vary greatly, but these abdominal pains must be treated in a timely manner

① Abdominal pain after overeating

Excessive food stimulation can cause a large amount of pancreatic digestive juice to be secreted , and on the other hand, it can lead to duodenal inflammation , poor pancreatic juice excretion or reflux. In addition, overeating often leads to vomiting, high pressure in the duodenum, etc., which may cause pancreatic juice reflux and induce acute pancreatitis.

② Upper abdominal pain accompanied by chest tightness, shortness of breath/nausea and belching (hiccups)

Sometimes upper abdominal pain may not be an abdominal problem, especially for the elderly with a history of coronary heart disease, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. If you experience upper abdominal pain, nausea, belching, and chest tightness, it may be a sign of a heart attack . If you experience back or jaw pain, shortness of breath, and vomiting, see a doctor as soon as possible!

③ Abdominal pain may also be accompanied by intestinal obstruction

Most patients with colon cancer have symptoms of abdominal pain, which is mostly dull pain. When complicated by intestinal obstruction , it may also manifest as abdominal colic.

If patients experience persistent abdominal discomfort, dull pain, and bloating in daily life, and the symptoms do not improve after general treatment, then they should be alert to the possibility of colon cancer.

④ Lower abdominal pain in women

Excluding dysmenorrhea or appendicitis, if you have confirmed pregnancy, and you suddenly experience severe tearing pain in the lower abdomen, which often starts from one side of the lower abdomen and spreads to the whole abdomen, and may also be accompanied by a small amount of vaginal bleeding or even a feeling of anal swelling, then you need to be alert to the possibility of ectopic pregnancy . At this time, you should seek medical attention in time and do not delay the treatment.

If people endure pain for a long time , their tolerance to pain will become lower and lower , simple pain will become complicated, and treatable pain will become difficult to treat. In particular, these four types of pain should not be endured:

(1)

Pain that lasts for a long time

If the pain does not improve for a long time or recurs repeatedly, you should go to the pain department or related department for treatment.

(2)

Increased pain

If you have a headache due to a cold, or back and leg pain due to fatigue, and if the pain has occurred before but is significantly aggravated when it occurs again , you should seek medical attention promptly.

(3)

Pain like never before

If you have never had pain symptoms before and the pain suddenly occurs and does not subside after a few days , you should go to the hospital for examination.

(4)

No cause for pain

When long-term, recurring pain occurs in a certain part of the body, and the relevant departments have checked and confirmed that there is no organic lesion in that part, but the cause of the pain still cannot be found , you should go to the pain department for treatment.

Notice!

If you encounter pain that you cannot handle or the cause of which is unclear, you should seek help from a doctor or professional in a timely manner , and do not think that "it will pass if you endure it."

It is crucial to describe the pain in detail and accurately so that the doctor can quickly determine the cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

(1)

Pain location

Where does it hurt?

Where is the pain most obvious?

Is there any pain in other parts of the body?

Is the pain localized ?

(2)

Nature of pain

Use more vivid words to describe it , such as "hurts like a needle prick".

Is the pain constant or intermittent?

Intermittent pain, how often does it occur?

What time of day is the pain strongest ?

(3)

Pain level

Generally, it is divided into two categories based on whether it affects sleep :

If it does not affect sleep, it is mild ;

The impact on sleep is moderate ;

The pain is so severe that you can’t sleep at all.

(4)

History of pain and family history

When did the pain start?

What could be causing this?

It is best to describe the pain at a particular time and explain whether the pain has changed, such as increasing or decreasing in intensity or spreading to other areas.

(5)

Influencing factors

Describe the factors that induce, aggravate or relieve pain, such as whether you are injured or overworked; whether the pain is aggravated or relieved when sleeping ; whether the pain is aggravated during activities , and whether it is relieved after rest , etc.

(6)

Associated symptoms

In addition to pain, are there other symptoms ? For example, is the shoulder and neck pain accompanied by numbness of the upper and lower limbs, and are there symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, and blurred vision?

(7)

Treatment history

**Have you ever received treatment for pain? **Please describe the examinations and treatments you have received, the analgesics you have used, and the results of the treatments.

Many diseases cause more complex pain

If you experience physical pain or discomfort

Don’t think “Just bear with it”

We must pay attention to it

Go to hospital for further treatment
