September 26th of each year is World Contraception Day, an international commemorative day aimed at raising awareness of contraception among young people around the world. Since it was jointly initiated by a number of international non-governmental organizations in 2007, World Contraception Day has gradually become an important opportunity to promote reproductive health and contraception knowledge.

1. The Origin of the Memorial Day

The origin of World Contraception Day can be traced back to the "Prevention of Unplanned Teen Pregnancy Day" in Latin America. With the global spread of this concept, more and more countries and regions have joined the ranks. The main purpose of the commemoration day is to promote scientific contraception awareness, convey contraception knowledge, and raise young people's awareness of contraception, so that they can make responsible choices about their sexual behavior and reproductive health, thereby increasing the rate of safe contraception and improving the level of reproductive health education.

2. The importance of contraception

Contraception is not only an effective means to prevent unwanted pregnancies, but also an important measure to protect reproductive health. Unwanted pregnancies may lead to recurrent miscarriages, and even serious consequences such as infertility, causing great harm to women's physical and mental health. Therefore, understanding contraceptive knowledge and taking scientific and effective contraceptive measures are of great significance to maintaining the happiness and well-being of individuals and families.

3. Contraceptive methods

At present, there are many common contraceptive methods, including tool contraception, drug contraception, external contraceptive methods, ligation surgery, safe period contraception, and external ejaculation contraception.

1. Tool contraception: mainly includes male condoms and female intrauterine devices. Condoms are not only effective in preventing pregnancy, but also in preventing sexually transmitted diseases. Intrauterine devices are a long-acting, reversible contraceptive tool suitable for women with different fertility needs.

2. Drug contraception: including oral contraceptives, long-acting contraceptive injections and subcutaneous contraceptive implants. Oral contraceptives achieve contraceptive effects by inhibiting ovulation. Common contraceptives include norgestrel-5-nitropropene tablets, levonorgestrel-5-ethinyl estradiol tablets, and levonorgestrel-5-nitropropene tablets. Long-acting contraceptive injections and subcutaneous contraceptive implants are suitable for those who have obvious gastrointestinal reactions to oral contraceptives. The advantages of drug contraception are that it does not affect the experience of sexual life and delays menopause in women; the disadvantages are that it may cause heavy menstrual flow, irregular vaginal bleeding, etc.

3. External contraceptive methods: such as contraceptive films, gels and suppositories, etc., achieve the purpose of contraception by killing sperm or preventing sperm from entering the uterus, but improper use can easily lead to failure.

4. Sterilization surgery: including male vasectomy and female tubal ligation. This is a permanent contraceptive method suitable for couples who have completed their fertility plan.

5. Safe period contraception: refers to contraception during the non-ovulation period. This method has low efficiency and can easily lead to unwanted pregnancy, so it is not recommended.

6. Contraception by ejaculation outside the body: It may not be in time during sexual intercourse, the contraceptive effect is poor and it may cause certain harm to the male body, so it is not recommended.

IV. Precautions for scientific contraception

1. Choose a suitable contraceptive method: Choose a suitable contraceptive method based on your personal reproductive needs, physical condition and lifestyle habits.

2. Use contraceptive tools correctly: When using condoms, make sure they are of the right size, use them throughout the entire process, and check for damage.

3. Use medication with caution: For contraceptive methods that require medication, you should consult a doctor/use the medication according to the instructions.

4. Regular check-ups and follow-ups: Women who use long-acting contraceptive tools or drugs should go to the hospital for regular check-ups and follow-ups to ensure contraceptive effectiveness and safety.

World Contraception Day reminds us to always pay attention to the importance of contraception. By popularizing contraceptive knowledge and raising awareness of contraception, we can effectively reduce the occurrence of unwanted pregnancies and protect the reproductive health of ourselves and our partners. Let us contribute to building a world without unwanted pregnancies. Let us work together!
