Summer vacation eye protection campaign~ Summer vacation is here !

Summer vacation is a critical period for the prevention and control of myopia among children and adolescents

It is also a high incidence period for eye injuries in children.

Collect the eye protection tips quickly!

1. Avoid using your eyes for a long time

Prolonged use of the eyes can cause eye fatigue, so it is recommended that you look up and look into the distance (at least 20 feet, about 6 meters) for 20 seconds every 20 minutes of eye use.

2. Pay attention to the correct reading and writing posture

When reading and writing, keep the correct posture, and do it in the correct way, "one fist, one foot, one inch". Do not lie down or lie prone to read or do homework.

One fist: The distance between the chest and the table is one fist (about 6-7 cm)

One foot: The distance between eyes and book is one foot (33 cm)

One inch: The distance between the finger holding the pen and the tip of the pen is one inch (3 cm)

3. Good visual environment

When reading or writing, you need a study environment with soft, sufficient light and a simple layout. Avoid reading while walking, riding in a car, or in an environment with strong or insufficient light.

4. Participate in more outdoor activities

Without the heavy academic burden of daily life, it is recommended to participate in at least 1-2 hours of outdoor activities every day, such as walking, cycling, playing ball, etc.

5. Eat a balanced diet and get enough sleep

A balanced diet, not being picky or partial to certain foods, and consuming foods rich in vitamins A, C, and E, such as carrots, spinach, citrus fruits, and nuts, can help protect eye health. At the same time, in the hot summer weather and with the use of air conditioning, it is even more important to maintain adequate water intake to relieve dry and tired eyes.

Sufficient sleep is not only important for the physical development of children and adolescents, but also beneficial to visual development. Kindergarten and primary school students should sleep no less than 10 hours a day, junior high school students should sleep no less than 9 hours a day, and high school students should sleep no less than 8 hours a day.

6. Pay attention to eye hygiene

Wash your hands frequently and avoid rubbing your eyes with your hands. If you experience symptoms such as dryness, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, itching, photophobia, redness, or eye pain, seek medical attention promptly and follow the doctor's advice for treatment.

7. Beware of eye injuries

Because children have poor self-protection awareness and weak ability to foresee risks, eye injuries are prevalent during the winter and summer holidays every year, and the blindness rate of eye injuries is as high as 60-70%. Therefore, prevention of eye injuries is better than treatment!

Parents should keep dangerous items such as scissors and 502 glue out of children's reach, and not buy low-quality offensive toys such as javelins and bullet guns; and prohibit children from setting off fireworks and firecrackers.

8. Check your eyesight regularly

Children and adolescents should have a vision check every three to six months. Parents should take their children to the hospital for vision check during the summer vacation, establish a "refractive development file", and record key data in the eye development process. Regular monitoring of vision and axial length can help parents determine their children's refractive status, so as to effectively intervene in their children's myopia progression in a timely manner.

No matter when, take good care of your eyes

In order to better embrace this colorful world

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy summer vacation!
