Be alert to the trend of younger diabetes and do early screening

Diabetes used to be seen as a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people, but now it is becoming younger and quietly affecting people in their thirties.

Globally, one in ten people suffers from diabetes. One person dies from it every five seconds. Diabetes has become a "sweet killer" that endangers the health of our people.

Young people often have misunderstandings about diabetes. They tend to interpret the disease information released by the body as ordinary physiological needs rather than signs of diabetes. However, the symptoms of diabetes "three more and one less" are still very typical: frequent thirst and drinking more water, increased hunger and eating more, increased urine volume, and significant weight loss. But not everyone will have these symptoms. Therefore, the absence of "three more and one less" does not mean the absence of diabetes.

So, who is more likely to develop diabetes?

If there is a diabetic in your immediate family, or if you are overweight, have a sweet tooth, or have an unhealthy lifestyle, your risk of developing the disease may increase. Some people think that their annual physical examination includes fasting blood sugar, and that should be enough. According to epidemiological data in our country, the missed diagnosis rate of only fasting blood sugar is very high. Therefore, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for a package examination. The latest version of the diagnosis and treatment standards recommends that the age for diabetes screening be advanced from 45 to 35 years old. Those with normal screening results are recommended to be screened once every 3 years, and those with prediabetes are recommended to be screened once a year.

We need to raise health awareness and prevent diabetes through scientific screening and a healthy lifestyle. Start early, start now, and focus on organs without harm.
