International Tea Day, do you know what are the taboos and precautions of drinking tea?

May 21st of every year is International Tea Day. In China, tea culture flourished in the Tang Dynasty and prospered in the Song Dynasty. Especially after the middle and late Tang Dynasty, with the implementation of tea policy and the popularity of The Classic of Tea, drinking tea became a "pure fashion in the prosperous times". Now tea has been promoted to a national health drink. It is well known that drinking tea is beneficial. For example, tea has many functions such as lowering blood lipids, lowering blood pressure, regulating immunity, anti-oxidation, anti-radiation, and anti-aging. Although tea is a healthy drink, it is not omnipotent. It is not suitable to drink tea at some special times and for some people with special diseases.

1. Don’t drink tea immediately after a meal : Drinking tea immediately after a meal will dilute the gastric juice, reduce the concentration of gastric acid, and prolong the digestion time of food in the stomach. In addition, the tannic acid in tea can turn the protein in the food into a coagulated substance that is difficult to digest. Therefore, it is recommended to drink tea 1 hour after a meal.

2. Patients with iron deficiency anemia and those who are taking iron supplements should not drink tea : Tannic acid in tea can combine with iron to form insoluble compounds that affect iron absorption. Drinking tea will aggravate the symptoms of anemia in patients with iron deficiency anemia. Note: People who are taking iron supplements should not drink tea to avoid hindering iron absorption.

3. Avoid drinking strong tea during vaccination (such as rabies vaccine): because it is irritating and can easily cause adverse reactions.

4. Patients with urinary stones should not drink tea: Tea contains a lot of oxalic acid (especially black tea). Drinking tea frequently will increase the level of oxalic acid in the body, which can easily combine with calcium to form calcium oxalate, aggravating the condition.

5. People with palpitations should not drink tea: Caffeine and theophylline in tea can excite the heart and speed up the heart rate. Note: People with tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, hyperthyroidism and other fast heart rates should not drink tea.

6. People with insomnia should not drink tea : Patients with insomnia, neurasthenia, etc. should not drink tea (such as oolong tea) after dinner, especially strong tea, because theophylline, caffeine, etc. have a nerve stimulating effect and will aggravate insomnia.

in addition:

1. Patients with liver disease should avoid drinking green tea. The caffeine in green tea is metabolized by the liver. Drinking too much tea can damage liver function. Green tea contains a substance that prevents the formation of new blood vessels. Pregnant women and surgical patients should not drink it, and people with cold stomachs should not drink it.

2. People with gastric ulcers and poor liver function should not drink yellow tea.

3. White tea is cold in nature. People with a "hot" stomach can drink it in moderation on an empty stomach. People with a neutral stomach can drink it at any time, while people with a "cold" stomach should drink it after meals.

4. Avoid drinking green tea (oolong tea) on an empty stomach, because it is easy to get tea drunk, with symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, weakness in hands and feet, etc. In addition, it is best to warm up cold oolong tea before drinking, because cold oolong tea can easily have a negative impact on the stomach.

5. People with stomach heat, thick tongue coating, bad breath, acne, red eyes, getting angry, and women during menstruation, pregnancy, or lactation should not drink black tea.

6. People with severe arteriosclerosis and hypertension should not drink strong black tea when their condition is unstable; patients with anemia and hypoglycemia should not drink black tea either.
