Does gout, which does not cause pain, need to be treated?

Some patients have always believed that gout, as the name implies, is painful. In fact, some gout patients do not have obvious symptoms of joint pain, so they will not go to the hospital for treatment in time. Unexpectedly, this may be a hidden health killer!

Joint pain is a very common symptom of gout, but not all gout patients will experience pain. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia is also a manifestation of gout.

For patients with only fluctuating or persistent hyperuricemia, the time from the increase of blood uric acid to the onset of symptoms can be several years. Do these gout patients who do not have pain symptoms need treatment? The answer is yes!

If the uric acid level is continuously high, urate will be deposited in the kidneys, causing gouty nephropathy. Hyperuricemia and gout are lifelong diseases. Chronic lesions can cause joint damage and affect the quality of life. They are also prone to be accompanied by hypertension, diabetes and other diseases. Therefore, controlling your diet, moving your legs, taking medications properly, following doctor's advice, and controlling uric acid levels are the keys to preventing and controlling gout.
