Addendum 1: It’s not scary to have dreams frequently at night, what’s scary is to have nightmares frequently! A study published in eClinical Medicine, a journal of The Lancet, pointed out that frequent nightmares are associated with an increased risk of developing dementia in the elderly. Middle-aged people (35-64 years old) who have nightmares every week are four times more likely to experience cognitive decline in the next 10 years than ordinary people of the same age; and elderly people (≥65 years old) who have nightmares every week are twice as likely to be diagnosed with dementia later.
