First of all, I am a general surgeon. At the same time, my teacher told me that gastrointestinal endoscopy is a basic skill for general surgeons, so I am also an endoscopist. Recently, I had a gastrointestinal endoscopy because I felt bloating in my abdomen. I can tell you responsibly that bowel preparation before a gastrointestinal endoscopy is very important. Let me talk about my own experience and experience in bowel preparation. This process usually includes cleaning the intestines and dietary restrictions to ensure the accuracy and safety of the endoscopy. As an endoscopist, the expected bowel preparation results are as follows: The specific steps of bowel preparation may vary depending on the hospital and doctor's requirements, but generally include the following aspects: 1. Dietary restrictions: One day before the gastrointestinal endoscopy, I did not eat fiber foods, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetable peels and other foods that are difficult to digest. In addition, I also avoided drinking beverages containing red or purple dyes, as these dyes may interfere with the results of the endoscopy. For dinner the day before the examination, I had a bowl of porridge and half a pound of boiled shrimps, and I was still full and not hungry. 2. Clean the intestines: The key to intestinal preparation is to clean the intestines so that the doctor can clearly observe the inside of the digestive tract. This is usually achieved by using laxatives. Laxatives cause diarrhea and help remove feces and other residues from the intestines. This time, I chose a concentrated solution of magnesium sulfate, sodium potassium for oral use. I started drinking laxatives at around 8 pm. 177ml was diluted with 1500ml of water. I drank it within 1 hour. My stomach was a little bloated. At about 21:30, my stomach began to gurgle and peristalsis. It started to be a little hard. After about 4-5 times, it became watery. It was not obvious until 3:00 in the morning. It was about 8-9 times. I got up at about 6 o'clock in the morning and drank another 50ml of medicine diluted with 500ml of water. Within 30 minutes, I started to poop again. It was very clean and egg white color. I had an appointment for painless gastroenteroscopy at 11 o'clock. I stopped eating at 7 o'clock and ensured that I would not eat for 4 hours before the examination. 3. Drinking water: During the bowel preparation, I drank a little water intermittently until my stomach was slightly bloated to maintain the body's water balance. This helps dilute the concentration of the laxative, reduce the degree of diarrhea, and prevent dehydration. During the entire bowel preparation process, I felt a little bloating and discomfort. The laxative tasted okay, orange flavor, and was very acceptable. Later, when I had diarrhea, watery biu came out, and my anus was still a little painful. In general, bowel preparation is a necessary step to ensure the accuracy and safety of gastrointestinal endoscopy. Although it may cause some discomfort, it is very important for your health. Please be sure to follow your doctor's instructions for bowel preparation and consult your doctor if you have any questions or problems. For mild bloating, you can rub your stomach. Next time, I will share my colonoscopy experience with you all.
