Open airway for cardiopulmonary resuscitation Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (except for newborns) is generally carried out in the following order: C (Chest compressions) → A (Airway) → B (Breaths) artificial respiration. The order of resuscitation for patients with asphyxial cardiac arrest caused by drowning or other reasons is A open airway → B artificial respiration → C chest compressions. The first step is to turn the patient's head to one side and check whether there is any foreign matter or secretion in the patient's mouth. If there is, use the index finger or handkerchief to remove it immediately. Step 2: Press down the patient's forehead with one hand and lift up the patient's chin with the index and middle fingers of the other hand. Use both hands to tilt the patient's head back to open the airway and keep it open. Note: For patients with cervical spine or spinal cord injuries, use the chin thrust method and place one hand on each side of the patient's head to restrict head movement. |
