You can tell whether you have kidney disease by looking at your urine!

Urine can directly reflect kidney disease. Normal urine should be colorless or light yellow, transparent and clear. Once abnormal urine is found, you need to be alert.

3 key points to determine whether urine is abnormal

0 1 Changes in urine properties

Changes in urine properties mainly include three aspects. ① Smell: ammonia smell, the smell of old-fashioned public toilets, and the smell of urine after being left for a long time. There are also garlic smells, rotten apple smells, rat smells, sweet fruit smells, and foul smells. Usually, the smell of fresh urine is not strong. When you smell a pungent smell, you should be vigilant regardless of whether you can identify which of the above smells it belongs to. ② Color: thin milk color, rice soup color, pink, red wine color, strong tea color, soy sauce color, etc. Urine is usually colorless or light yellow. If it turns into other colors, it should be taken seriously. ③ Turbid urine with bubbles should also be paid attention to.

0 2 Changes in urine volume

For our body, less urine is a troublesome thing, especially for patients with kidney disease. Urine is produced by the kidneys. If there is no urine, it means that the kidneys are not working and are about to retire. Therefore, the amount of urine is another important indicator for monitoring kidney function. Monitoring urine volume is very simple. Urine is poured into a measurable container, such as a large cup with a scale, a basin, a spittoon or a mineral water bottle, and the daily urine volume is recorded. When the daily urine volume is less than 400 ml or more than 2500 ml, it should be vigilant. If this happens for two consecutive days, you need to go to the hospital to consult a doctor, especially for patients with kidney disease.

0 3 Problems with urination

Common problems with urination include: ① Frequent urination: urinating more than 6 times a day; ② Frequent nocturia: getting up more than 2 times a day; ③ Urgency: wanting to go to the toilet as soon as you have to urinate and can't hold it; ④ Painful urination: pain when urinating; ⑤ Difficulty urinating: urinating with force, thinning urine stream, or no dripping; ⑥ Urinary incontinence: urinating without knowing it.

When the above situation occurs, seek medical attention immediately.

Abnormal urine requires 3 tests

Urine examination: The main items of urine examination include hematuria, proteinuria, and tubular urine.

(1) Hematuria is divided into microscopic hematuria and gross hematuria. Microscopic hematuria refers to the presence of more than 3 red blood cells per high-power field of view in the sediment after urine centrifugation under a high-power microscope; gross hematuria refers to urine that is meat-washing water-like or blood-colored. Hematuria is often seen in diseases of the urinary system such as inflammation, stones, tumors, and renal tuberculosis.

(2) Proteinuria: When the 24-hour urine protein quantity exceeds 150 mg, or the urine albumin/creatinine ratio is greater than 0.20, it is considered proteinuria.

(3) Casts in the urine refer to the cylindrical aggregates formed by the aggregation and coagulation of proteins, cells, and secretions in the urine in the collecting ducts of the renal tubules. Casts in the urine often indicate kidney disease.

The correct way to collect urine

(1) For female patients, a routine urine test should be performed one week after the end of menstruation.

(2) The first urine after waking up in the morning is the best.

(3) Be sure to use a sterile, clean, and dry container. Do not just use a paper cup or a plastic cup. Otherwise, it will easily be contaminated and the test results will be inaccurate.

(4) Before going to the hospital for a routine urine test, clean your vulva at home.

(5) Take 20 ml of midstream urine. The amount of urine should not be too small. The so-called midstream urine refers to the process of urination, in which the first part of urine discharged is discarded and the middle part of urine is retained.

(6) The specimen should be sent for examination within half an hour. If it is sent for examination for too long, it may deteriorate and make the examination results unreliable.

In short, whether you suffer from chronic kidney disease or not, you need to pay attention to your urine in daily life. Once any abnormality occurs, you need to seek medical attention immediately to prevent further development of kidney disease.
