Which is more accurate, HPV or TCT?

Recently, some mothers have raised questions about the accuracy of HPV and TCT. This depends on the actual situation. It is for different situations. The diagnosis rates of gynecological diseases are different for different women. It should be said that the directions are different. Next, I will tell you which one is more accurate, HPV or TCT.

1. Differences between HPV and TCT

1. TCT: The English abbreviation of New Papanicolaou liquid-based cytology technique, namely liquid-based cytology test, is one of the most advanced cervical cytology examination technologies in the world. Compared with the traditional cervical smear Papanicolaou acid-fast staining test, it has significantly improved the satisfaction rate of specimen collection and the diagnosis rate of abnormal cervical cells. This method has been widely used in clinical medicine. TCT cervical cancer screening has a 100% diagnostic rate for cervical tumor cells. It can also detect precancerous lesions and microbial infections such as fungi, Trichomonas, and mycoplasma.

2. HPV: Human papillomavirus (HPV) test. It can cause proliferation of the squamous epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes of the human body, mainly manifesting as common warts, genital warts (condyloma acuminatum) and other symptoms. With the rapid increase in the prevalence of genital warts among sexually transmitted diseases and the increase in cervical cancer, anal cancer, etc., human papillomavirus infection has attracted more and more attention.

3. To put it simply, TCT is a test of cervical liquid-based cytology, which is a test of the results; while the HPV test is a test of the cause of the disease. HPV is used to test for high-risk viral infections that may cause cervical diseases and cervical cancer, and TCT is used to test whether abnormal changes have occurred in cervical cells under the influence of pathogenic factors.

The above is about the difference between HPV and TCT. In fact, one is to check the results and the other is to check whether there is high-risk infection. They are in different fields. The detection rate of TCT for cervical cancer is certain, and HPV is mainly used to detect other diseases. Incorrect detection may cause the risk of disease. The two tests are closely related and complement each other.
