Suddenly your temper becomes bad and you suffer from insomnia? I suggest you check this part immediately

If you suddenly find yourself

The weight that has remained unchanged for thousands of years has been lost

I want to eat every day, but I can't sleep at night.

My temper has become a little bit worse

This doesn't necessarily mean you've found your passion for life again

More likely hyperthyroidism

Maybe many people have heard of it.

Hyperthyroidism can cause big eyes and thick neck

I don't have these symptoms.

But in fact

Hyperthyroidism does not only have these two symptoms

The various physical manifestations of hyperthyroidism are mainly due to the excessive action of thyroid hormone on body cells and the increased activity of beta-adrenergic nerves.

In simple terms, patients with hyperthyroidism may experience symptoms all over the body. Typical symptoms include:

● Heat intolerance, excessive sweating, and increased body temperature;

●Easily agitated, hyperactive, talkative, hands trembling;

●Insomnia, fatigue and weakness;

●Palpitation, tachycardia, and increased blood pressure;

● Increased appetite, large food intake, easy hunger, increased bowel movements, and weight loss;

●Enlarged thyroid gland, bulging eyes, etc.

Different genders may also have some different manifestations. For example, female patients may experience irregular menstruation or amenorrhea; male patients may experience symptoms such as decreased libido and impotence.

Note that not all of the above symptoms will appear in one person.

Some patients with milder hyperthyroidism may only show 1 to 2 symptoms, such as one or two of weight loss, increased appetite, insomnia, etc.

As for more obvious symptoms such as enlarged thyroid gland and bulging eyeballs, they do not necessarily appear, so they are difficult to detect in some patients.

In addition, if you are elderly or have elderly people at home, you need to pay attention to one thing -

When a small number of elderly people suffer from hyperthyroidism, they only show symptoms such as physical weakness, fatigue, lethargy, mental apathy, and depression. This is called "apathetic hyperthyroidism" and is relatively more difficult to detect.

Clinically, 80% of hyperthyroidism is caused by Graves' disease, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland in which the patient's lymphocytes produce immunoglobulins that stimulate the thyroid gland.

The next most common diseases are toxic multinodular goiter, single highly functional thyroid nodule, subacute thyroiditis, and postpartum autoimmune thyroiditis.

Other less common causes include pituitary thyrotropin-stimulating hormone tumor, iodine-induced hyperthyroidism, follicular thyroid cancer, and excessive intake of thyroid hormone.

Emphasize the key points! Graves' disease is the most common cause. The cause of Graves' disease is currently speculated to be related to factors such as fever, lack of sleep, and mental stress.

Some studies have also shown that many patients with hyperthyroidism in clinical practice have familial characteristics, which may be related to genetics.

The weather is hot in summer, and the thyroid hormone levels in hyperthyroidism patients are high, and the metabolism of various organs is significantly accelerated. Therefore, summer is often the peak period of hyperthyroidism.

People who have irregular work and rest schedules, often stay up late, and have a family history of hyperthyroidism need to pay attention to their thyroid health in the summer and go to the hospital for regular physical examinations to prevent problems before they occur.

Hyperthyroidism is essentially an autoimmune disease and may co-exist with other common autoimmune diseases.

For example, people with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren's syndrome, lupus erythematosus, moyamoya disease and other diseases should be careful about the occurrence of hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism complications involve a wide variety of systemic diseases, sometimes even two or more diseases combined.

When diagnosing and treating these diseases, comprehensive screening is also required to avoid the worsening of hyperthyroidism due to undiagnosed hyperthyroidism, which may eventually lead to hyperthyroid crisis and threaten the patient's life.

I hope everyone will enjoy the summer

Protect your thyroid gland

In case there is any problem

Go to hospital for treatment promptly
